【宮崎旅行】 日南 青島 宮崎観光 定番スポットと激うま宮崎グルメ!|2泊3日の旅! 2日目

Good morning! It’s the second day of our Miyazaki trip. Here’s the schedule for our 3-day, 2-night Miyazaki trip. This video covers Day 2. The Day 1 video is linked in the description below. We’ll also share our Day 2 expenses at the end of the video. Hope it helps with your travel planning! We had breakfast early at the hotel and headed toward Udo Shrine. It’s about a 50-minute drive from our hotel in Miyazaki City. We took a narrow coastal road to get there. When we visited, the first parking lot was under construction. As of August 2025, the construction has already been completed. Shinmon Gate Romon Gate The main shrine is inside a cave down a set of stairs. Main shrine If you turn right with your back to the lantern… you’ll see the “Breast Rock” (Ochichi-iwa). We stopped by a shop near the shrine entrance. We bought “Ochichi Candy,” made with water dripping from the Breast Rock. Next, we’re off to Sun Messe Nichinan. It’s about a 13-minute drive from Udo Shrine to Sun Messe Nichinan. Admission is ¥1,000 per adult. Parking is free. Moai statues “Mirai-chan” and “Ikiru-kun” welcome you in. Sun Messe Nichinan features restored Moai statues. After walking about two minutes along the seaside path, the statues came into view! They say touching the Moai statues brings good luck. From left to right:
Career, health, love, world peace, marriage, money, academic success I wonder what Taka-san is wishing for? He went with world peace! So why are there Moai statues in Nichinan, Japan? A Japanese company helped restore damaged Moai statues on Easter Island, and as a thank-you, they were granted permission to recreate them in Japan. One of the companies involved had ties to Nichinan. “Voyant” It’s French for “a person who sees.” It was too early for lunch, so we decided to make a little detour. The parking lot is behind the house with the Totoro statue. It says the statue was handmade by a daughter for her Totoro-loving mom. It’s so well made that it’s become a popular spot for visitors. Since this is a private home, please be respectful while visiting. Now, we’re heading to lunch. We parked in front of a white building and walked around to the back. The brown building is the restaurant. Hoyomaru We arrived a bit early. So we passed the time gazing at the ocean until it opened at 11. The restaurant is now open! We ordered spiny lobster sashimi. They offer sizes from S to 4L, and sashimi starts from size L. I think this L-size lobster cost around ¥3,500? It’s packed with meat and super fresh! “Wow!” “It’s still moving!” “Let’s try it!” “So sweet!” “Delicious!” “Sweet and…” “…incredibly rich in flavor!” It’s sweet, springy, and absolutely delicious! They used the leftover shell to make miso soup for us. We also got the red and white seafood rice bowl (¥1,800) with the lobster miso soup. The rice bowl was topped with generous cuts of red and white fish. Half a spiny lobster was included too. Full of meat and even brain! Looks amazing! “Let’s eat!” “Let me try the scallop 💛” “Mmm!” “Oops, too much wasabi!” “Mmm! So good!” “There’s even the scallop skirt part!” All the sashimi was fresh, filling, and delicious! They didn’t use rice as filler—it was genuinely packed with fish. “The sashimi portions are huge.” “Right?” “So much!” “Delicious!” “Lobster miso soup.” “Ahhh…” “Incredible!” “The lobster brain really flavors it!” “Mmm…” “So good!” “Look at this!” “Mmm-hmm-hmm!” “Delicious!” The soup was packed with rich lobster flavor—simply incredible. Hoyomaru was absolutely amazing! Next, we’re heading to Roadside Station Phoenix. It’s about a 15-minute drive from Hoyomaru. We came here to try their famous soft-serve ice cream. We both got mango soft-serve (¥400). We enjoyed it while taking in the view from the observation deck. From the deck, we had a great view of the Devil’s Washboard rock formation. Next stop: Aoshima Shrine. It’s about an 8-minute drive from Roadside Station Phoenix. We parked at Aoshima Station East Exit lot, which is free. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the shrine from there. We walked through the Aoshima Botanical Garden along the way. We started to see the ocean. That must be Aoshima over there. We can see a torii gate in the distance. Right before the bridge to Aoshima is AOSHIMA BEACH PARK. There were food trucks and a café. Now we’re heading to Aoshima Shrine. Crossing Yayoi Bridge. We could see the Devil’s Washboard rock formation. It’s hard to believe that these perfectly aligned rocks were formed naturally. The shrine gate says “Kamotsukumiya.” That’s what Aoshima Shrine used to be called. If you go right toward the shrine, you’ll find the royal path. We walked through a tunnel of ema plaques and into a jungle-like path. This is the original Aoshima Shrine. We tied a green paper strip to a tree and prayed for success in work. Then tried the “Heika” throwing ritual. You throw a small clay disc while making a wish. If it lands inside the stone circle, your wish will come true. If it breaks, it brings luck and wards off evil. SANBARCO café It was packed when we passed by earlier, but now it was quieter. We ordered key lime soda and mango juice. The 3-taco set came with a little appetizer (we think?). “The chips underneath are made from fried taco tortillas.” “Please pick them up and eat with your hands.” “What was this one again?” “Steamed chicken.” “Steamed chicken!” “Interesting.” “And Miyazaki yellowtail.” “Yellowtail!” “Okay, I’ll go for the chicken.” “LOL” “Mmm!” “It just has a hint of taco flavor.” “This fried tortilla and steamed chicken combo is perfect.” “Love that roasted aroma.” “So good!” Here comes our three-taco set! They kindly cut each taco in half so we could share. “This one’s supposed to be spicy… oh well, I’m adding it!” “The tortilla is so soft—really easy to eat.” “Delicious.” “Wow, looks amazing!” “Mmm, the shrimp is super plump!” Taka-san really liked the spicy sauce. Each of the three tacos had a unique flavor and they were all delicious! Now heading back to our hotel in Miyazaki City. After a short break at the hotel, we explored downtown Miyazaki. Time to head out for dinner. We arrived right at opening time, but there was already a line. Maruman Yakitori Main Store We waited for about an hour. We were seated upstairs. At Maruman, you can try local Miyazaki dishes like charcoal-grilled chicken and chicken tataki. Here’s the chicken tataki. It’s quite rare—barely cooked. “Mmm!” “So good!” “The chicken’s sweetness is incredible.” “The fat and sweetness are just perfect.” “Might be even better with lots of ginger.” “You can really taste the juicy fat, right?” “The slightly charred parts are amazing!” “Totally.” “So delicious.” “Seriously good!” “No wonder people line up for this.” It’s juicy, sweet, smoky—just insanely good!! Now the charcoal-grilled thigh (momo yaki)! You can choose between bone-in or boneless pieces. “This one’s seasoned nicely with salt and pepper too.” “It tastes different from the tataki.” “Still a little rare though.” “Yeah.” “The salt and pepper seasoning is just right.” “This grilled thigh is amazing too.” “Mmm, isn’t it tasty?” It has a completely different flavor from the tataki, but equally delicious! The grilled thigh comes with soup and cucumber on the side. Grilled chicken liver (motsuyaki) “There’s no gaminess at all.” “This liver is so rich and flavorful.” “It’s served kind of rare.” “You’re right.” “It’s so fluffy.” “This is like gourmet-level quality.” “Totally different texture from the grilled thigh.” “So good!” Now for the chicken pilaf. The chicken pilaf is limited to just 10 servings a day. “Let’s try the meat.” “Mmm.” “Maybe it’s a different part of the chicken than the grilled thigh?” “The meat is really tender.” “Tastes kind of similar to the grilled thigh.” “Mmm!” “This buttery chicken rice is incredible.” “You can really taste the butter—it’s so good.” The chicken on top is tender with a lovely smoky flavor. It goes perfectly with the pilaf! Each dish had a different texture and flavor of chicken—so delicious!! This place is highly recommended! We headed back to the hotel. On the way, we picked up some local Miyazaki specialty—meat-wrapped rice balls. From Ganso Nikumaki Honpo It says this is the birthplace of the meat-wrapped rice ball. Huh? Is that Momotaro Dentetsu on the flag?? We bought three meat-wrapped rice balls with sauce—¥400 each. We ate them back at the hotel. “Ooh, smells amazing.” “They’re each nicely wrapped!” “This must be the sauce.” “Yep, we got three sauces.” “Oh! It’s pretty small.” “Yeah, smaller than I thought.” “The package says ‘Please enjoy quickly.’” “It’s still warm.” “Oh!” “Whoa!” “So this is what it looks like.” “It’s about the size of a rice ball.” “Yeah, it is.” “Let’s pour the sauce on.” “Here we go.” “Oh, it drips quite a bit!” “Let’s give it a try.” “Mmm!” “There’s a lot of meat on it!” “The sauce tastes better when poured on the rice.” “That way the flavor soaks in nicely—so good.” While showing scenes from our stroll down Nishitachi Street… We’ll now share the expenses for Day 2 of our Miyazaki trip. Our total spending for Day 2 was… In the final video, we’ll visit Takachiho and Amano Iwato Shrine. Don’t miss the last episode of our Miyazaki trip! Thank you so much for watching to the end. Good night 😴
