【京都旅行】大人の日帰り旅!舞鶴の絶景とグルメ散策!
Hello, my name is Shie. I recently visited Maizuru, located in northern Kyoto. My first stop was Maizuru Red Brick Park. Built during the Meiji and Taisho periods by the Imperial Japanese Navy as a storage facility for weapons and ammunition, the park is a tourist and exchange facility that utilizes these red brick warehouses. Apparently, eight of the 12 warehouses are designated as Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government. It was a very hot day, but the nostalgic atmosphere was so captivating that I ended up walking a lot. There were rail tracks and a sense of the history of logistics. The rows of stately red brick warehouses were truly impressive. Walking between the warehouses and looking back, the view from here was also picturesque. Beyond the warehouses, I could see escort ships and other vessels. Inside the warehouses, there are cafes, restaurants, specialty shops, and event spaces. It seems there’s also a brick-themed Red Brick Museum. Next, I headed to a cafe. Next, I headed to a spot on a slight hill next to Red Brick Park. I arrived at atick, a commercial complex with shops, cafes, a sauna, and an observation deck. We could already see Maizuru Bay from the parking lot. We headed to GOOD SOUND COFFEE. This cafe, themed around the fusion of sound and coffee, had a very stylish interior. The food, neatly arranged, looked delicious. The view from the counter seats was also outstanding. Here’s what we ordered: My husband’s Nikujaga Croquette Burger (700 yen) and Ice Organic Blend (580 yen). This is my Caramel Ice Donut (750 yen) and Ice Amber Share (580 yen). Ice cream in the middle of the donut is just amazing! ❤︎ The donut was fluffy and brimming with caramel sauce. I was completely satisfied. We relaxed in the cozy space, gazing out at the view and enjoying the music. Thank you for the meal. After touring the shops on the first floor of atick, we took the stairs to the rooftop observation deck. We were able to enjoy Maizuru Bay from an even higher vantage point. Looking down, we could see atick’s courtyard. It was time to head to our next destination. We passed through Akarenga Park. It was about a five-minute drive. We arrived at the restaurant where we wanted to have lunch. It was a Western-style restaurant called Shoueikan. The building retains the charm of the Meiji era. The interior was also very lovely. Outside the window was a beautiful garden. We enjoyed our lunch while looking out at the garden. This was the Navy Curry (1,500 yen). It came with salad, milk, and pickles. It’s made without curry powder, but with a blend of eight spices. The rice was barley rice. The vegetables were cut into large pieces. Apparently, it was recreated based on naval cuisine and testimonies from the Navy’s Accounting Department at the time. The curry was light and elegant, with a strong spice aroma. Thank you for the meal. We drove about 15 minutes to the top of Mt. Goro. The tower at the top came into view. This is the Goro Sky Tower. It’s a 50-meter-tall observation tower. Even without climbing the tower, the view was already spectacular. But since we were there, we decided to go up the tower! The price was 300 yen (adults). From here, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view. Beautiful views of the mountains, islands, and ocean unfold before you. While the view from the atick seems familiar, this is a completely different place. I thoroughly enjoyed Maizuru Bay in summer. Finally, I decided to visit a cafe. I arrived at a cafe near Akarenga Park. I parked my car behind the cafe. The cafe’s name is GASS. Apparently, it was opened in a renovated former gas company building. The interior is open and very stylish. I ordered an iced Americano (550 yen) and an iced tea (550 yen), both of which are similar in color. For dessert, I had Basque cheesecake (660 yen). It was a very hot day. Cooling off with a cold drink was a delight. The Basque cheesecake was rich and smooth. It had a slightly bitter crust, which paired well with the accompanying ice cream. It was my first time in Maizuru, and it was a fulfilling day. It was a recommended day trip for adults. As the cake was getting low, I ate a small portion at the end. Thank you for the meal. Finally, we went to Red Brick Park again and looked at various souvenirs. Thank you for watching. Please like and subscribe to our channel.
