Mid-August 2025. My family is currently working in Kitami City. Kitami City is known for its yakiniku , so we decided to visit a popular yakiniku restaurant called “Tatsumi,” which we’d been curious about. It’s delicious, reasonably priced, and popular. Apparently, it’s often fully booked, so you need a reservation to get in. First up, of course, beer. The beer mugs are huge. This long-established restaurant offers incredibly low prices on meat. Kitami City boasts the highest number of yakiniku restaurants per capita in Hokkaido. Offal is a specialty. Today, we worked together on a trip to Kutchan. A friend came to see us from Sapporo. Using two tongs? “Nama-tare” (raw sauce) is another Kitami yakiniku specialty. Apparently, a light touch of salt and pepper is also a Kitami way of doing things. The pork sashimi had a great texture! We dipped it in plenty of nama-tare (raw sauce). The restaurant’s signature light kimchi pickles were a highlight. I left the grilling to the two guys, and I just ate and drank. This connection was made through YouTube. Human connections are strange, aren’t they? We were able to enjoy so many delicious and fun experiences. We brought a souvenir for Kotaro, who stayed home alone. We also gave Kotaro some Kitami yakiniku. The meat was unseasoned with salt, pepper, or any other seasoning. The next morning. Corgi travel, van life traveling with a corgi. Osa, Mama-chan, and Kotaro. Osa during the Obon holiday. A morning walk with Kotaro in a nearby park. Preparing breakfast. Osa’s company has booked a hotel room for her, so we had the hotel buffet for breakfast. There was a wide selection, and she seemed to really like it. Kotaro and I ate in the car, as usual. When I’m alone, I make it with leftovers. Osa has a luxurious breakfast, but honestly, it’s easy. Breakfast is ready. Meanwhile, Osa wonders, ” Do you really eat this much in the morning?” We head to a park by the river. Kaoranse Park. Kaoranse Park. Kotaro is tired from playing. I like this park because it’s a relaxing place. It’s a popular park with families with children. In such a nice environment, video editing also progresses well. A vast park on the banks of the Tokoro River. The herb garden is filled with a variety of herbs. It’s coffee time. The spot where you park becomes a coffee shop. That’s another great thing about campervans. Enjoying siphon coffee outdoors feels so luxurious. The shade of the trees keeps you cool. Wakasaimo, a traditional sweet, is something I didn’t really like as a child, but now it tastes amazing. The kids play in the water, while the adults have a barbecue party. It’s a great park. We went to a hot spring in Kitami City. Kaoruyanse Park. No Tsukenoyu. Kitami Yumoto Tsukenoyu. The bathing fee was 490 yen for adults, and the water was great. After refreshing, we paid a visit to the local deity. The Lantern Festival was held at the shrine from August 5th to 17th. The lights were on from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Sorry, God, I’m not wearing makeup. There are 400 wind chimes on display in the shrine grounds. Wind chimes at dusk. It’s more like a fantasy world, or perhaps a world of spirits. I feel like I’ve wandered into another world. The chozuya (purification fountain), though, is modern. The sound of the wind chimes is soothing. It was a good visit . Preparing for dinner. When was Doyo no Ushi no Hi? I think it’s already passed. Today, I’m having unadon (eel bowl) to recover from summer fatigue. I don’t have a microwave, so I’m putting it in a hot water bath. Kotaro can’t wait for dinner. Dinner is finished. This sake was given to me by a viewer from Nagano Prefecture who was on a trip to Kutchan. The feast begins. The red label has the word “Comet” and “Char” written on it. No matter how you look at it , it’s “Char the Red Comet.” This sake is really delicious. It tastes better warmed in a hot water bath than in the microwave. Off-cuts of bluefin tuna, a bargain. Osa’s friend came to see us too. We went to Kitami’s yakiniku restaurant “Tatsumi” together. It was cheap but delicious. There are many restaurants I’d like to try during my stay, but eating in the car with my favorite sake is also nice. The nomadic work journey continues tomorrow.
