16世紀から続く福岡県田川市で開催されている、初夏を彩る絢爛豪華な一大絵巻。日本最大級の2基の神輿と11台の飾り立てた山笠が威勢よく町を練り歩き、彦山川を渡る風治八幡宮「川渡り神事」。1日目に行われた、山笠集合・飾付（バレンたて）から山笠競演会までの動画です。
Held since the 16th century in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, this gorgeous and extravagant festival paints the early summer scenery. The Fuuji Hachiman Shrine “River Crossing Ceremony” sees two of Japan’s largest portable shrines and eleven decorated floats parade through the town and cross the Hikosan River. This video shows the first day’s events, from the assembly and decoration of the floats to the float competition.
