Located in Nyuto Onsen Village, this is Japan’s best-kept secret hot spring, boasting a history of over 300 years. In addition to the five Honjin rooms, a registered tangible cultural property with rows of thatched roofs against a backdrop of autumn foliage, there are also Shinhonjin and Higashihonjin Annex Honjin buildings 1 to 3, totaling 34 rooms . Honjin Ichiban is so popular that reservations fill up on the day reservations open! The thatched roof and black-painted exterior, complete with hearth, create a fantastic atmosphere . There are four types of hot springs and 16 baths! Nearly neutral sulfur spring with a rich, milky sulfur scent . Day trips are also welcome. Mixed outdoor baths include Naka-no-yu, Taki-no-yu, and Kuro-yu. Women’s-only outdoor bath . It gets crowded during the day, but in the evenings and mornings, it’s only available to guests. Private outdoor baths exclusively for guests . Private indoor baths . You can enjoy bathing in the indoor hot springs in both men’s and women’s buildings. Charcoal is set in the hearth at dinner time. Tsuru-no-yu’s specialties include mountain yam hotpot and Akita Komachi dumplings, and grilled salted rock trout. Breakfast, centered around local specialties, will get you full of energy from the morning. This hot spring inn, Nyuto Onsen Tsuru-no-yu, has a wonderful atmosphere, quality spring water, and satisfying food.

300年以上の歴史を誇るこちらのお宿、紅葉をバックに茅葺き屋根の客室が並ぶ姿が素敵すぎる。
客室は登録有形文化財に指定された、本陣5室の他に、新本陣、東本陣、離れ本陣、1号館から3号館までの全34室。
特に今回泊まった本陣一番は大人気で、予約開始日の朝9時に予約が埋まってしまうほど。茅葺き屋根と黒塗りの外観の本陣は、明治時代の建築そのままで、囲炉裏付き、雰囲気抜群のお部屋。
温泉は源泉が4種類、名前のついているお風呂はなんと16箇所。いずれの源泉もほぼ中性の硫黄泉で、濃厚な乳白色のお湯と、硫黄の香りに癒される。
日帰りもはいれるのは、名物の混浴露天風呂と、中の湯、滝の湯、白湯、黒湯、そして女性専用露天風呂。昼は少し混み合うけど、夜と朝は宿泊者のみでゆったり入れる。宿泊者のみが入れるのは貸切露天風呂と貸切内湯が2箇所、内湯の白湯が男女別あるので、館内で湯めぐりが楽しめる。
夕食はお部屋の囲炉裏に炭をセット、鶴の湯名物の山の芋鍋やあきたこまちのお団子、イワナの塩焼きに大満足。
朝食は本陣の別のお部屋で朝食膳。秋田の地のもの中心の朝食をいただけば、朝からパワー全開。
