Please enjoy the powerful “Namahage Taiko” for a while. Opening: Oga Namahage Taiko. This local performing art combines the traditional “Namahage” art of Oga City, Akita Prefecture, with Japanese wadaiko drumming. As darkness falls, more and more people gather. Over 10,000 people attended. Location: OGA Marine Park, Oga City, Akita Prefecture This year, over 10,000 people attended. Approximately 10,000 fireworks will be launched. Enjoy the harmony of light and music. The finale is a starmine (rapid-fired continuous fireworks). No matter how old we get, this moment is still our youth! I’m grateful to have been able to enjoy the fireworks with my family again this year. I hope to come back next year.

Naomi in Chianti’s second video from Japan brings you the spectacular fireworks festival in Oga City, Akita Prefecture.

This fireworks festival, with approximately 10,000 fireworks launched into the sky, is one of Akita Prefecture’s major summer events.

It is held every year on August 14th with the hope that families returning home can enjoy it together.

It is a uniquely Oga event, where fireworks, music, MC, and audiences come together in one.

The MC, Charley Hoy of the Akita Northern Happinets, keeps the event moving at a lively and fun pace.

Enjoy the opening performance of Oga’s traditional Japanese drumming, the Namahage Taiko.

Demons perform a powerful performance of the drums.
