Good morning, I’m Bien. I’m a man with rhinitis who loves to travel. I travel about 2-3 times a month , and I’m currently on Amami Oshima. My 3-night, 4-day trip to Amami Oshima is today, the second day . I walked around hidden spots , discovered the best value lunch, strolled around the southernmost area, gazed at the mysterious seascape , and ate a lot of Amami gourmet food. I enjoyed Amami Oshima from morning to night. Please watch until the end. What street is this? There’s an arcade. Good morning, I’m currently on Amami Oshima. I came to buy breakfast. I’ve arrived at Sandwich Cafe Amami. I wonder if they’ll open in 5 minutes. It’s a restaurant I definitely wanted to try for breakfast when I came to Amami Oshima . They’re open from 7:30 in the morning . I went in, and it was 5 minutes before opening. It was still 2 There were only a few people in line, but as soon as they opened, more and more people started to gather and before we knew it, there were about 20 people in line. Originally we were planning to get takeout, but the sandwiches looked so delicious that we decided to eat inside. The sandwiches I wanted to eat right away were addictive: chicken cutlet, blueberries, tuna, egg , and two pieces of chicken. Definitely delicious . I’ll start with the chicken. It was delicious! What is Funangyo Falls called? This is Amami City, Sumiyo Town. In the early Showa period, forestry was thriving and cut trees were transported by floating them down the river. Most of them were used for boat logs, so people went by boat to cut the logs . Funangyo Falls. It seems that Funangyo Falls came into being. The waterfall can be seen in the distance here. Amazing . (Either is fine, lol) Amami Oshima is…mountainous. This side is mostly mountains , and also tunnels. Before coming to Amami Oshima , I looked up tourist spots and gourmet food, but I didn’t look at road information at all. It’s just tunnels , with a lot of long tunnels. I thought I could enjoy a drive along the coast on Route 58, but about half of it is tunnels, and there’s no place like a scenic drive on this road. Route 58 …maybe I have to take another road closer to the coast. The view is amazing once I get out of the tunnel (or so I thought, and then a spectacular view appeared). It’s 5km from the tunnel and I ‘m in the southernmost area. The view is completely different once I get here. Amami Oshima is so big that it doesn’t feel like an isolated island. 1km left , and the town comes into view. What kind of place is this? Wow, this place is thriving too. I’ve arrived at the southern tip of Amami Oshima. I’m crossing the Setouchi Bridge. I heard there’s a seafood bowl restaurant and a cafe inside the sea station here, so I’ll take a look. They might be open yet… It’s 10 o’clock, so they’re probably closed , but I’ll take a look. Well, I’ll just stroll around. It’s nice, this port town feel has a nice atmosphere. We arrived at Setouchi Seaside Station, which opens at 11:30. Waiting here for an hour and a half is tiring. I wanted to try some tuna or seafood bowls (I thought seafood bowls were only available in the morning). The map here had five model sightseeing courses for Amami Oshima. From here, you can take a ferry to Kakeroma Island for just 690 yen round trip! It ‘s super cheap! I thought there was a really big foot bath, and then there were these huge fish ! There ‘s some kind of cave here, it’s amazing it won’t collapse, what a view , it’s amazing, the view of the ocean and cliffs from the cool cave is amazing, what a view, so this whole area is easy to walk on too, isn’t it ? It’s all thanks to the people who cut the grass that we can enjoy sightseeing without any trouble from insects or snakes , it’s quite a wide area, I thought there was just one narrow path but it’s amazing it’s open over a wide area and it was much easier to walk . It seems to be Kama Bar , I’m a little curious, Snack Amami is so sparkly and sparkly , it’s really long , it stretches all the way here, there are surprisingly many shops that are open late, including shops that open at 7pm, this place looks nice too, the moon is so beautiful today, the moon is beautiful, and the crows are amazing, the shop closed here, will we go back again, really, Sagari Hana , next we went back to that area where the Nicheon Street sign was , and turned slightly right on the way, we came to a street that turned right … what street is this called, the road on the way to Daruma Market Street, the local fish tempura I had earlier was really delicious, the white meat was fluffy, I mean the meat was fluffy and delicious , is this Daruma Market Street? Oh no, the next street is Daruma Market Street . I think Yanagawa Street has the most shops, and it looks like there are restaurants here too. There’s a parking lot here , and it feels like there’s a parking lot here. If you’re traveling to Amami Oshima , I think it’s better to stay at a hotel around here. It’s more fun to get there on foot, or rather , it might be good because you can see everything on foot. Over here, there’s a yakiniku restaurant and a green store. It’s here. You can actually walk there. If you’re driving, you can only go as the navigation system tells you, so it’s easy to remember the roads if you walk too much. If you’re traveling for 3 or 4 nights, walk around the area around the hotel on the first day. It’s fun to remember the roads. This is the green store, which is open 24 hours. Ah, Daruma Market Street. Here, this is the street. Yes , yes, yes . Isn’t this the place where I bought coffee at the cafe here earlier? I didn’t take any pictures, but simply I was so sleepy that I bought some black coffee and drank it. I decided to go to the green store, so I bought some pineapple at the supermarket earlier. It was pineapple from Amami Oshima. I went to the sauna at the hotel, and before going to bed, I had some pineapple as a post-bath dessert. The taste was a little light, but it was delicious. The pineapple was cut into the shape of a fruit. It was so juicy and I was so tired. Then I realized that there was an ice corner in the hotel. I just realized that even if you can’t get it ice-cold in the refrigerator , you can just use ice. It’s delicious. It’s heavy. It’s so heavy it’s hard to eat with a toothpick. I think today we went to some great value-for-money restaurants. We had a sandwich for breakfast , then went south, wandered around Setouchi, ate ramen and sashimi , got pineapple at the supermarket, ate local food at an izakaya, and Family Mart also had local specialties. It was a day where we thoroughly enjoyed the local specialties, including sata andagi made at the local Family Mart, which is made right here on Amami Oshima (we had chicken rice yesterday). We also went to some scenic spots, so it was pretty good. You might think it’s a convenience store on a trip, but there’s a kitchen behind the Family Mart where they make the food properly. And it’s delicious, seriously . Sometimes it happens that a Family Mart is closed today, but there aren’t many stores nearby , so if you’re in a pinch, try a Family Mart. The dough is thick, and it’s really delicious. It’s addictively delicious . So , day 2 of our trip to Amami Oshima was a day of fun from morning to night.
