The numerous archaeological sites and the finds found in different areas near the inhabited area attest to the population of the territory of Vieste since the Paleolithic.

Surely this was due to the mild climate, the different sources of drinking water, the fertile soil with an abundance of fruit, the variety of both sedentary and migratory game and the abundance of fish in the various inlets along the coast.

The Vieste territory, rich in flint, allowed man in prehistoric times to create lithic artifacts used as tools for work, hunting or defense.

About 3 kilometers from the town, a vast flint mine was discovered, defined as one of the largest in Europe. The remains of Iron Age tombs are also visible in the vicinity of the castle.

In the municipal area, there was also a dolmen which, however, was irreparably destroyed. In fact, the archaeological finds found in the Vieste territory are very often left to themselves and this determines their deterioration and destruction.

  1. Had to translate the sign on that cute staircase: "climbing the staircase as a couple and holding hands you will be forever linked to your loved one".

  2. Your channel is very creative, excellent, awesome, energetic, colorful and interesting! thanks for sharing! good luck!

  3. quella che proponete voi non è Vieste: sembra un souk di una città dell'Africa. Vieste c'est tres plus belle ! Pizzomunno …….

  4. What a beautiful town and coastline! I am moving to Florence on October 1st and I absolutely cannot wait! Perhaps I can visit Vieste one day. ❤🇮🇹

  5. Second vlog today and wow what a fantastic intro!!!! I hope those two guys figured out they were at the old pharmacy that has moved onto the main street. Great vlog Riccardo thanks a lot for making everyone jealous.

  6. Amazing video! My mother was born in Vieste. And came to the USA as a child. I now import olive oil from Vieste to the USA. This video was perfect. Grazie.

  7. Beautiful video! My paternal grandparents and my husband's father were born in the Vieste area and we have always wanted to visit. We have been to Italy three times but never went to the other coast and this video has convinced me that we will find a way to get there in the future. We now live in Naples (FL-LOL) but hope to travel to Vieste in the future.

  8. At 7:13 the guy in blue shirt was checking out the orange girl ask.. shame on you man.

  9. I was born in Vieste came to the states as a child, watching this video brought back so many childhood memories. @Still Wanderer | Italy in 4k, this video mostly of the old town, I'm wondering if you have additional footage of the rest of town, beaches and marina areas? If so, do you plan on releasing another video? Thanks again for bringing me back to my childhood days.

  10. The beautiful old stonework, the narrow streets & surprises around every corner – what a lovely way to see the world from your own armchair ! Thank you. I especially love the gorgeous blue sea suddenly appearing in view as you wander around – this place is somehow comforting, you can feel the history of the many generations. I have stayed in a Masseria south of Brindisi some years back, and loved it, the constant bright sunshine & the olive trees everywhere were lovely, it was hot (for a Brit) but a wonderful experience.
