This video captures a cycling journey through the Kawada district (河和田地区) in Sabae City (鯖江市), Fukui Prefecture, filmed in June 2025. Starting from Echizen‑Tōgō Station (越前東郷駅) in Fukui City, the route passes through the Tonokuchi Tunnel (戸口トンネル) into the wooded mountains. From there, we journey deep into Kawada, exploring its roads all the way to Kami‑Kawachi Town (上河内町), the most remote section of the district. Afterward, the ride continues briefly into the northern part of the former Imadate area of Echizen City before returning.

Kawada is nationally recognized as the birthplace of Echizen lacquerware, with an unbroken craft history dating back approximately 1,500 years . The route combines mountain scenery, quiet village roads, and the legacy of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

この動画は、2025年6月に福井市越前東郷駅からスタートし、戸口トンネルを通って鯖江市河和田地区深部、最奥の上河内町まで巡る自転車旅の記録です。その後、越前市旧今立町の北部へ少し立ち寄り、スタート地点へと目指します。

河和田は越前漆器の発祥地として知られ、約1500年の歴史を持つ伝統工芸の地です 。
