岡山の人気観光地【岡山城×後楽園】&岡山名物えびめし・デミカツ丼【旅vlog】
Today, we’re going sightseeing at Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden. But first, we’ll have lunch at a nearby café. Shimajo Coffee Shop This café is within walking distance of Okayama Castle. Their “Demi-Katsu Don” and “Ebimeshi” are quite popular. The shaved ice looks absolutely delicious! Let’s head inside. Menu Okayama specialty: Ebimeshi – 850 yen Okayama specialty: Demi-Katsu Don – 950 yen They also offer set menus. We ordered both of Okayama’s local specialties. That was delicious! The total was 1,800 yen for both. Now, let’s head to Okayama Castle! The area is paved and easy to walk around. Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden are surrounded by the Asahi River. You can enjoy views of the castle and garden from a sightseeing cruise on the river. Adults: 1,500 yen Children: 750 yen Crossing the bridge ahead will take you to Korakuen Garden. To get to Okayama Castle, continue straight without crossing the bridge. There are boats shaped like peaches. Okayama Castle is now in view. Up ahead, you can see the corridor gate and the connecting corridor. Okayama became a battlefield area when Ukita Naoie made it his base during the Sengoku period. Okayama Castle is also called “Ujō” (Crow Castle) due to its black wooden siding. Stone wall under the Konomon Yagura This stone wall is located at the rear of the main keep and was built in the 1620s. Corridor Gate This gate was used by the feudal lord to descend to the formal reception hall, hence the name “Corridor Gate.” The Tsukimi Yagura (Moon-Viewing Turret) is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. This is the Tsukimi Yagura. From outside the castle, it looks two-storied, but from the inside it appears to be three-storied. The lowest level is a storehouse. Spring Water Basin The spring you see now is a reconstruction. The original remains are said to be buried underground. Tamon Yagura A long, narrow turret built atop stone walls or earthen embankments. Ahead of us is the Akazu-no-mon (literally, “Never-Open Gate”). This gate is usually kept closed and only opened in emergencies or for special occasions. Climbing this path will take you to the main keep (tenshukaku). There were few tourists, making for a peaceful atmosphere. Let’s head toward the main keep. Admission for adults: 400 yen Photography is not allowed inside the main keep. We visited the café inside the keep. Castle Parfait – 1,750 yen That was delicious! Next, let’s head to Korakuen Garden. You can reach Korakuen by crossing the bridge from Okayama Castle. Tsukimi Bridge You get a beautiful view of the castle keep. Up ahead lies Korakuen Garden. Korakuen is a Japanese garden located in Kita Ward, Okayama City, and is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. We’re entering through the south gate. Since we’re here, let’s go in from the inside and exit through the main gate. There were souvenir shops and café spaces. One of Korakuen’s key features is the expansive lawn you see ahead. Okayama Korakuen is a stroll-style garden designed to allow visitors to enjoy changing scenery. The pond, artificial hills, and tea houses are connected by walking paths and waterways. There are many koi fish swimming. There was also a café space inside the garden. (Though it’s the edge of) Korakuen. Summer at Korakuen offers a refreshing, lush green landscape. We saw some people relaxing on the other side. Are they cleaning the river? These stone steps have a very classic charm. The view from this slightly higher spot is also stunning. Beautiful. This is the essence of summer in Japan. Yuishinzan Hill An artificial hill 6 meters high, located at the center of Okayama Korakuen. What are they planting here?
Rice? Ida (Grid Field) A remnant of the rice fields that once existed within Korakuen. Tea Field There is a tea plantation within Okayama Korakuen. It has been an important part of the garden since its opening. Sawa-no-ike Pond A central pond located within the garden. From left to right: Nakanoshima, with Shimajaya Teahouse;
Minoshima, with the Fishing Pavilion (Tsuridono);
and Jarijima, known for its white sand and green pines. A turtle was swimming! Feeding the koi is prohibited. What a stunning landscape. Now let’s head back toward the main gate. Combined admission to Okayama Castle and Korakuen was 720 yen. That’s it for today’s video. If you enjoyed it, please give it a like and subscribe to the channel!
