福井県の道の駅恐竜渓谷かつやま 恐竜の滑り台・オリジナル羽二重餅・九頭竜ダム【S660ドライブ】
Leaving Roadside Station Kuzuryu. Since we’re here, should we go check it out? It says we can go as far as Kuzuryu Lake. We’re taking a loop and gaining elevation. There are a lot of monkeys around here too. I can see the sign for the Kuzuryu Dam parking lot. Since we’ve come all the way to Kuzuryu Lake, let’s head to the last roadside station. Let’s go to the final roadside station. We’re heading back on National Route 158. If we had more time, I was planning to visit a fourth station. Looks like we still have enough time for one more station. So, let’s make the next one our final stop. For the last stop, we’ll go to a roadside station in Katsuyama City. From here, we’ll be heading toward the expressway for a while. On the way back, we’ll prioritize time. We’ll take the Chubu-Jukan Expressway. Heading towards Katsuyama. I’m not sure how far we can take the Chubu-Jukan Expressway. But it should go all the way to Fukui City. Hopefully we can get close to the roadside station. But I think it’s best to prioritize time. Let’s use the expressway and head to Katsuyama. From here, we’ll enter the Chubu-Jukan Expressway. On the way to Kuzuryu, we used National Route 158. Looks like we can take the expressway all the way to Katsuyama. So, we’ll get on the Chubu-Jukan Expressway, and it seems we can go straight to the roadside station in Katsuyama. Route 158 is more fun for driving, though. But taking the expressway really saves a lot of time. Expressway driving is easy, but not very exciting. If you’re in a hurry, the expressway is the right choice. Driving the Chubu-Jukan Expressway—the tunnels are so long! Here’s another tunnel. It means these mountains are really deep. This tunnel is 2.5 km long. There’s a sign up ahead. It says “17 km to Roadside Station Dinosaur Valley Katsuyama.” If there are signs on the expressway, maybe the expressway connects directly to the roadside station. Passing by Roadside Station Echizen Ono Arashima-no-Sato. We’re back near the previous roadside station. The road is smooth and easy to drive. It’s 11 km to Katsuyama and 37 km to Fukui. If it’s about 11 km, we should get there in about 10 minutes. Once the Chubu-Jukan Expressway fully opens, traveling between Fukui and Gifu will be much faster. It’s 700 meters to the Katsuyama IC. Once we exit at Katsuyama, the roadside station should be nearby. Only about 1 km left. We’re exiting the Chubu-Jukan Expressway at Katsuyama. There’s a sign for Dinosaur Valley Katsuyama. If we turn right at this intersection, we’ll reach the roadside station. This is Roadside Station Dinosaur Valley Katsuyama. This was the last roadside station of today’s trip. I found one original product here. First, let me introduce the original product. It’s Katsuyama Habutae Mochi. This was a special product only available at this roadside station. And I also bought something related to dinosaurs. It has a “Dinosaur Kingdom Fukui” sticker and a dinosaur footprint— Dinosaur Pudding. And lastly, there’s a dinosaur illustration on it— this is the Lovely Farm Dinosaur Melon Bread. I bought these three items. You can eat the melon bread later. Since I have to drive back to Osaka, I’ll save them in case I get hungry on the way. If I don’t eat them, I’ll introduce them at home. Let’s start by trying the dinosaur pudding. Alright, let’s give this a try. Let’s dig in. Is that a cookie layer inside? It’s a classic pudding, so I think everyone will like it. It’s not too sweet. It’s just right for a tired traveler. Now for the next one. The Katsuyama Habutae. Wait a second. Oh no! The inside is pure white. It looks like this. Let’s give it a try. It’s hard to eat without making a mess. There are walnuts inside. Delicious! This is really good. It’s not just walnuts. It’s walnuts and brown sugar. The combination of walnuts and brown sugar is perfect. This is what it looks like inside. So tasty! This Habutae Mochi is a roadside station original. You should definitely try it. I can totally recommend this. Here’s a dinosaur illustration. There’s a dinosaur illustration on the melon bread I bought. I thought it was kind of fun. Let’s try this one too. This is what the melon bread looks like. Can you see the dinosaur shape? The bread is also shaped like an egg. I cut the bread in half. There’s something like a chocolate bar inside. Let’s give it a try. It has a dinosaur design, so it fits perfectly with the name of the roadside station. If you visit the roadside station, and you’re interested, give it a try. That’s it for today’s roadside station tour. Now I’m heading home. There are a lot fewer cars now. After refueling, I’ll take the expressway back to Osaka.
