長野県伊那市にある高遠城址公園（たかとおじょうしこうえん）の夜桜を見てきました。少し離れたところから望む高遠閣（たかとおかく）のまわりに広がる桜の景色がすばらしく、一度訪れてみたいと思っていた桜の名所の一つです。
タカトオコヒガンザクラという固有種の桜が約1500本植えられているそうです。花形はやや小ぶりで赤みを帯びているのが特徴で、その可憐さと壮大さは「天下第一の桜」と称されており「日本さくら名所百選」に入っているそうです。
今回は遠くからの景色は望めませんでしたが、ライトアップされた幻想的な夜桜を楽しむことができました。

I went to see illuminated cherry blossoms at Takato Castle Park in Ina City, Nagano Prefecture. The view of the cherry blossoms spreading around Takatokaku from a little distance was amazing, and it’s one of the cherry blossom spots I’ve wanted to visit.
There are about 1,500 endemic cherry trees called Takato Kohiganzakura planted here. They are characterized by their small, reddish flowers, and their cuteness and grandeur have earned them the nickname “the best cherry blossom in the world,” and they are included in the “Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan.”
Although I could not see the view from a distance this time, I was able to enjoy the fantastical night cherry blossoms lit up at night.
