Nishiwaga, Iwate (岩手県西和賀町) – 山人-yamado- ryokan Buna (椈) Luxury Suite tour 2025 Jul. 01

We are in Iwattate Preficure, actually the border of Iwattate and Akita, which is part of the Tohoku region in the northern portion of the main island of Hongu in Japan. And uh this is a Dioan, a 12 room luxury Dioan called Yamad. And um it’s in a a little small area called Yugawa Onsen. and uh which is in uh Nishi something I I forget Nishiwaga. Anyway, so this room is called Buuna as you can see. And so this is the uh top room category size. There’s one one room um that’s uh slightly more desirable called Katsura. The layout of the rooms are the same. It’s a little closer to the river with better views than this. Um but I think we’re splitting hairs here. Anyways, this is the toilet. And then coming in here, uh this is the closet. It’s a little dark in here. Yep. Extra pillows. It’s a little dark here. Anyway, so they they have um loungewear. It’s not yucata and it’s not sib, but um of different sizes that you can wear throughout the property, including it in meals. And then they have little coats in case it gets cold, which it can often in this region. And this is the main living area. It’s it’s a humble accommodation for a a luxury property. Um, not super spacious, but for a top room category, but it does have high ceilings and it has a nice view of the river, which uh I’ll show you a little bit more in a minute. And then this is the uh bedroom uh which can be turned into kind of well closed but it’s you don’t have complete sound insulation from the living room but it can be partitioned off. So the it’s it’s it’s actually uh a mattress or stone sort of on an elevated um tatami platform. And so we’ll turn around this way to get another view of the main living area. We’ll go and look out of the balcony in a second, but let’s see the uh the bathroom is humble. One sink doz. And our room attendant is coming in. This is the onen and the shower. So the bathing area and this onsen is genen kaka nagashi. So straight from the source they pipe it in directly. Um never recirculated. No tap water added. Um and uh no no exposure to oxygen before it actually gets uh dispensed into the onen which is very very nice. Um what you can do there again here’s a deck is um you can open this up for kind of get get some fresh air while um going in the onsen. And so here is the view. So this is a sitting area. See this is not a plunge pool. is just uh a kind of a man-made I guess water stream. There are tadpools and stuff swimming in there. Anyway, so you can see some beautiful nature right in front. So you can see that it’s the from the room. It’s a little bit angled closer as you go further down this way. So I believe the Katsura room is right along the river unlike our our room but no complaints especially given the onsen. Um so this area Nishiwaga in in in uh Iwattate is right on the border of Akita Prefecture. Um, so Akitita is to the west of Iwattate and then Ali is to the north of both. Um, the there there’s some things to do. Um, the the main couple of things about Iwattate is Shi Otani is from here and so is Roki Sasaki. Um, so Oshu where uh Otani is from, he uh that’s not too far from here. And then uh Shirazumi which is a UNESCO world heritage site was the Kyoto of the north and there’s a a beautiful um uh place there Chu Sunongji which is uh rivals the golden pavilion temple in Kyoto but it’s it’s actually a miniature uh temple uh all made in gold and then also uh uh you know a a lot of nature um you know, hiking, water sports, things like that. But it’s also has a lot of um natural wild mountain vegetables, edible plants, leaves, flowers, things like that. And right now in the summer is the season for that. See, it’s verdant green. Obviously, people come it’s most popular during the autumn leaves, the fall foliage season, but it’s really really nice during this time as well. So, um you know, if if you’re in this area, this this would not be a bad place to uh pass this time. So, this is Yamada and uh so we’re going to hopefully be introduced to some of the local produce. not even produce, the local wild um edible plants and a lot of it will be focused on introducing and representing a lot that nature has to offer to people in this area. So anyways, this is Yamado in Yugawa onen in um Nishiwaga Iwatre, Japan. Hope you enjoyed.
