The stage of this trip is Yamanashi Prefecture. We have fully enjoyed the mystical scenery of Mt. Fuji. It was a time filled with beautiful scenery that will stay in your memory. I hope you will enjoy the journey with us. As soon as we arrived, the imposing Mt. Fuji welcomed us. First, we went to a scenic spot where you can see Mt. Fuji and the five-story pagoda at the same time. For those of us from Kyushu, Mt. Fuji is a distant place. That’s why we stop in our tracks when we see Mt. Fuji. Mt. Fuji peeks out from between the torii gates. It’s such a divine sight. The grounds are enveloped in silence and have a dignified and tense atmosphere. We climbed the stairs and headed to the observation deck where we could see Mt. Fuji and the five-story pagoda. This is a tasteful view that is truly Japanese. We were captivated by the tasteful scenery. It is a view that is packed with Japaneseness. Let’s savor this luxurious moment. Arakura Sengen Shrine is filled with cherry blossoms in full bloom in spring. The gradation of the cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji must be beautiful. Even after the cherry blossom season is over, there are still footprints of snow on the summit of Mt. Fuji. It seems that it will be a while before spring arrives on Mt. Fuji. I was able to enjoy the modest Japanese scenery to the fullest. On the way to the next destination, I made a detour to the shopping district of Fujiyoshida City. Mt. Fuji blends into the ordinary everyday scenery. Thanks to Mt. Fuji, signs, street lights, and even crossing electric wires turn into a special scene. I can’t believe this is an everyday scene. For lunch, I went to a famous restaurant that serves Yamanashi’s specialty hoto. I tried hoto for the first time in my life. I waited excitedly for the food to be brought to me. I had pork hoto and pumpkin hoto. I was surprised that the noodles were flatter and thicker than I had imagined. The pumpkin, which has a strong presence, is the key to hoto. The noodles are well soaked in broth and have a great bite. It is packed with burdock, bracken, taro, shiitake mushrooms, and other ingredients, and is packed with the deliciousness of vegetables. It was my first time eating it, but it had a nostalgic taste. It warmed my body and mind. The gentle taste was a time of relaxation. Next, we came to Oshino Hakkai. It is a mysterious spring-fed pond where the meltwater from Mt. Fuji has been filtered over the years and has become clear water. It has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 famous waters and is registered as a World Heritage Site. It is so clear that you can clearly see the bottom of the pond. The pulsating water surface speaks of the beauty of the water. Mt. Fuji stands as if it is gently blending into the Japanese rural landscape. You can feel the blessings of Mt. Fuji from the clear water flowing nearby. Oshino Hakkai is dotted with eight ponds, each with a different expression. It is so clear that you cannot see the boundary with the water, and just looking at it purifies your mind. Nakaike Pond is the most lively pond among the Oshino Hakkai. The water is so clear and blue that it’s hard to believe it’s an artificial pond. The light sparkling on the surface of the water. The fish swimming gracefully. It’s such a beautiful sight that you can look at it forever. We’ve been to many famous springs all over Japan. But this is the first time we’ve encountered water this clear. Perhaps it’s because the water was nurtured by Mt. Fuji. The view of Mt. Fuji with the thatched roofs is the original landscape of Japan. We are enchanted by the beautiful scenery that looks like a painting. We try the Kusamochi, a specialty of Oshino Hakkai. The mugwort color of the mochi is very cute. The mochi rice used makes the dough soft and chewy. It had a gentle taste with the flavor of mugwort. Next, we went to a cafe on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi that we had been interested in. The store is open and airy with light streaming in through the large windows. The coffee made with carefully selected coffee beans roasted in San Francisco is popular. There are also handmade sweets on display. The atmosphere is lovely and somehow reminds us of the West Coast. The restaurant was full, so I sat in a special seat overlooking Lake Kawaguchi. I was soothed by the idyllic scenery that spread out before me. I had a cafe latte and chocolate chip cheesecake. The cafe latte had a rich and mellow taste. The rich cheesecake and coffee went perfectly together. I stopped by the cafe to take a quick break, but it was a comfortable place that made me want to stay longer. It was a cozy cafe that I came across during my trip. Finally, I went to Lake Shojiko, which was the location for my favorite drama. The exterior of this hotel often appeared in the drama. I enjoyed the view of Mt. Fuji to my heart’s content, while also making a pilgrimage to the sacred place. There is a bench here that recreates a scene from the drama. I felt like I was in the world of the drama. The view from the lake is very impressive, with the distance to Mt. Fuji being much closer. Just gazing at Mt. Fuji while listening to the sound of the gently flowing waves fills my heart. If I could, I would love to spend every day relaxing and gazing at Mt. Fuji like this. This trip was so memorable that it made me feel that way.
