Lake Shinji is the 7th largest lake in Japan, straddling Matsue City and Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. Because it is connected to the Sea of Japan via the Ohashi River and Nakaumi, it is not a freshwater lake but a brackish water lake, and its salinity is about 1/10 that of seawater. As it is a brackish water lake, there are many species of fish, including sea bass, shrimp, eel, smelt, freshwater clam, carp, whitebait, and other marine and freshwater fish. Lake Shinji is famous for its freshwater clam fishing, which accounts for about 90% of the catch. Along with clams, freshwater clam are the most familiar bivalves used in miso soup to Japanese people. This island is called Yomegashima and is the only island in Lake Shinji. Yomegashima is an uninhabited island located approximately 200m west of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, with a total length of 110m, a width of approximately 30m, and a circumference of 240m. This island is said to be made of basalt lava that erupted about 12 million years ago. Yoshiharu Horio, the founder of Matsue Castle, was so moved by the view from the castle tower that he described Yomegashima as “a scenic spot in the lake,” and it has also been loved by many literary figures, including Yakumo Koizumi. Therefore, there is a Matsue City Landscape Ordinance that prohibits the construction of tall buildings along the line from which Matsue Castle can see Yomegashima.

ここ宍道湖（しんじこ）は、島根県松江市と出雲市にまたがる日本で7番目に大きい湖です。
大橋川・中海などを介して日本海とつながっているので淡水湖ではなく汽水湖で、塩分濃度は海水の約1/10だそうです。

汽水湖なので魚種も豊富で、スズキ、モロゲエビ、ウナギ、ワカサギ、シジミ、コイ、シラウオなど海の魚も淡水魚も生息しています。
宍道湖は漁獲量の約9割を占めるシジミ漁で有名です。味噌汁の具に利用される二枚貝として、シジミはアサリと並んで日本人に最も馴染み深いものです。
この島は嫁ヶ島（よめがしま）という宍道湖で唯一の島です。
嫁ヶ島は、島根県松江市の西約200mに位置し、全長110m、幅約30m、周囲240mの無人島です。約1200万年前に噴出した玄武岩の溶岩から成るそうです。
松江城創建者の堀尾吉晴が天守閣からの眺めに感動して嫁ヶ島を「湖中の一勝地なり」と評したのをはじめ、小泉八雲など多くの文豪にも愛されてきました。
ですので、松江城から嫁ヶ島を眺める線上には高い建物を建ててはならないという松江市景観条例があるそうです。

おはようございます。宍道湖は一度だけ湖岸を少し歩いた記憶がありますが、いやあ～、さすがNinja様。
晴天の日にドローンから眺める風景は全然違い、美しさと迫力がありますね。
あの時は隙間時間にチラッと湖みて、一畑電鉄の駅見て、足湯ちょっとだけ体験して終わりだったのですが、
湖も大きすぎて湖岸の一点くらいからの眺めでは、この映像で見る雄大さはとても想像できませんでした。
