Hello everyone, welcome to my YouTube channel. I’m Wendy. This episode introduces my travel vlog. “Easter Chaoshan Three-Day Tour” DAY 2. A family booked a tour group. Taking advantage of the Easter holiday to have fun with relatives and friends. Playing from morning till night. Eating non-stop all day long. Today’s itinerary includes: Hotel buffet breakfast. A wide variety of food. Western, Chinese, Chaozhou style food, you name it. Very rich. After a full meal, we set off for the first scenic spot. Visiting the Fu Cheng Folk Museum. This is an encyclopedia of Chaoshan culture! Turns out Chaozhou dialect has its own dictionary! It’s really amazing! Special attention to: The “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” scroll, every stroke is breathtaking! After the visit, we will have lunch inside the folk museum. Lunch is a Chaozhou-style Eight Treasures Buddha Jumps Over the Wall feast. After a full meal, we continue to the second scenic spot. Chen Cihong’s Former Residence, also known as the “Little Forbidden City of Chaoshan”, with 506 rooms! Red bricks and green tiles + Western-style window frames, a blend of Chinese and Western styles, magnificent! The third scenic spot is Visiting Xiangzi Bridge, you will see eighteen connected boats and twenty-four pavilions on the bridge. Different views above and below the bridge, a bursting of historical depth and artistic beauty! The fourth scenic spot is Chaozhou West Lake. Looking at the scenery of the lake and mountains, you can truly feel “mountains in the city, the city in a painting”. If there’s time, you can also ride a paddle boat on the lake. Finally, today’s main event is here! It’s our dinner. Han Gong Banquet (Chaoshan version of the Manchu Han Imperial Feast). A grand occasion dish for Chaoshan people! Take a look at the menu. Each dish has a very special name. Each one is beautiful and delicious. Excellent in color, aroma, and taste, very eye-catching. So beautiful that you can’t help but take photos! Before we start, I hope you can FOLLOW me. Subscribe to my channel, give me some encouragement. DAY 2 Around eight o’clock in the morning. We went to the 5th floor of the hotel. Hampton Restaurant for buffet breakfast. We came down for breakfast. There’s jam, butter, toast. Croissant, pineapple bun. You can also make waffles. Chicken McNuggets, fried dough sticks. This is an Easter cake. Mung bean cake. Tiramisu. Hawthorn cake. Dim sum. The dim sum is shaped like a rabbit. Beef siu mai, pearl chicken. Boiled eggs. These are the coarse grains. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn. Braised goose, braised eggs. Curry fish balls. Savory porridge. Plain porridge. With toppings: preserved radish, peanuts…etc. Can be mixed with plain porridge. Fried rice. Stir-fried mixed mushrooms with sauce. Broccoli. This one is special. Breakfast even has shrimp! Shrimp for breakfast. Sausages. Here you can cook noodles with different toppings to choose from. Preserved mustard greens. Chicken soup. Pork offal soup. There are also noodles to choose from: noodles, rice vermicelli, flat rice noodles. Energetic chicken soup noodles. After ordering the toppings, the staff will cook it immediately. Beef patty. But it looks a bit like shrimp balls. There are turnip cakes. Red peach cake. Fried egg, bacon. Yogurt. Equivalent to our yogurt. There’s salad. This is a weight-loss meal. Cold platter. Duck breast, luncheon meat, ham. Lettuce. Many sauces are provided for the salad. Kelp. Cucumber. This looks a bit like dessert, basil seed jelly. Watermelon. Fragrant pear. Apple. Some cereal for breakfast. And some drinks. Soy milk, milk. The coffee machine has a long queue. One of the machines is broken. This is a juice machine. They have freshly made steamed rice rolls here. I ordered a bowl of special Chaoshan soup noodles. I chose pork offal soup for the base. For ingredients, I got lettuce, beef balls, and pork balls. And also picked two tofu skin rolls. Coming to Chaozhou, of course you have to eat their Kway Teow (flat rice noodles). After eating, I saw a poster at the restaurant entrance. What if you don’t have time or are in a hurry for breakfast? They will give you a takeaway box for you to pack food yourself. The arrangements at this hotel are quite good. After breakfast, we set off. Let’s take a look at today’s scenery. We are now crossing the bridge to today’s first scenic spot. We’ve arrived at the Fu Cheng Folk Museum. Male: There are numbers below. Male: Do you know why? WENDY: 1369 ??? Male: May all your wishes come true. Male: 1369, may all your wishes come true. I don’t believe 1369 equals “may all your wishes come true”. So I Googled it. The meaning of 1369 is roughly “life-long and lasting”. There are children here. Learning to make pottery. Pagers, big mobile phones. In the past. These should be put in a museum. Male: Can’t get these anymore. WENDY: MOTOROLA. Dictionaries were different in the old days. This is the Chinese Dictionary. Volume 1. Haha 😆 Turns out only I didn’t pay attention in class. Along the River During the Qingming Festival. This is the “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” scroll. There’s also a certificate. Treadmill waterwheel. It takes 3 people pedaling together to get water. This set is a handmade embroidery of the twelve zodiac signs. Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, pig. There’s also a restaurant inside this folk museum. We’ll have lunch here. Chaozhou cold dishes, authentic lion head goose, special braised goose. We are already looking at the braised geese before the dishes are served. This is a platter and a stew. Steamed scallops with garlic and vermicelli. Chaozhou Eight Immortals Over the Sea (Buddha Jumps Over the Wall). My favorite taro paste. White rice. Four-color platter: fried fish strips, fried fish balls, fried shrimp strips, salted egg chicken rolls. Chaozhou big pancake. Braised goose meat. Braised whelk slices with fish maw. Slow-cooked soup: mixed mushrooms, chicken. The taste is good, and the cooking time is sufficient. The scallops are small. But the taste is okay. Stir-fried choy sum. The vegetables are fresh and sweet. Such a big fish! Buddha Jumps Over the Wall ingredients: abalone, fish maw, shrimp balls, sea cucumber, fresh shrimp, shredded radish. Coriander, plum, guava. Salted egg chicken rolls are quite special. The taro paste has a thinner consistency, with many gingko nuts inside, and it’s quite sweet. Braised goose meat, fish maw, whelk slices. After a full meal, we set off for another scenic spot. It’s raining. Female: A lot! Lion head goose. It’s so big! Wow~~~ flying! Many tour groups. National 4A-level tourist scenic area. The place is very big. The environment here is decorated like. In the past, every household would sit outside their house. Just chatting like that. This is a mold for making “GE” (likely a local snack). Bitter gourd. Pig tail. Pig’s large intestine. This is Kway Teow (flat rice noodles). This place only has Chaoshan Kway Chap (flat rice noodle sheets in broth). All the ingredients are braised in滷水 (lu shui, a type of soy sauce-based braising liquid). Unexpectedly delicious. Does everyone find this place familiar? Today we came to the Han River. We are now on the opposite bank. Preparing to walk the Guangji Xiangzi Bridge. Because yesterday was too late, we couldn’t go up the bridge or get on a boat. Today we came to the opposite bank of the bridge. To walk along the eighteen connected boats and twenty-four pavilions on the bridge. Different views above and below the bridge. Let’s all take a quick walk with me. Super crowded. We will pass through different pavilions. Fenglin Isle. Then we passed Binghu (Ice Kettle). Then walk down to the boat. It happens to be almost sunset time. The “salted egg yolk” (sun) is so beautiful. Everyone is taking photos and checking in like crazy. Finally arrived at the eighteen connected boats. It’s currently dusk. You can see a bit of the “salted egg yolk” (sunset). Many people. Everyone is taking pictures and checking in. After crossing the road, we will arrive at Chaozhou West Lake. West Lake belongs to a part of the ancient city. It is a provincial-level scenic spot. First, we see the Dragon Pearl Pavilion. Then we see the West Lake Archway. We will pass the Rainbow Bridge. Walking up the embankment, you will see something like paddle boats. If there’s time, you can take a boat tour of West Lake. Of course, you can also choose to. Take a walk in the park. Feel the environment of the park. Enjoy the tranquil environment. Then we will go to Hanfu Courtyard for dinner. Happened to encounter someone getting married. Han Gong Banquet. This restaurant serves a very wide variety of dishes. We are having this Han Gong Banquet. You can borrow clothes for free here to take photos and check in. Want to wear a dragon robe. This cat pattern one is quite pretty. There’s a reception room at the back for you to take photos. The tour guide said this meal costs HK$300 per person. Preparation room. Discovered a lobster. We have both the elderly and the young. Twelve people in total. So we chose a large private room. A very large room. A very large table. There’s also a private restroom. There’s a menu on the wall. This meal represents Chaozhou banquet cuisine. Han Gong Banquet. The turntable on the table is very advanced. It’s an electric turntable. There are also controls to adjust the rotation speed. Appetizers: pickled cabbage with coriander and preserved radish. Olive, mushroom, tofu. Ginger slices, crispy peanuts. The main dishes are here. A dragon is carved on the platter. The presentation is very delicate and attractive. Let’s try some Chaozhou tea first. Turns out the cup and saucer are shaped like a copper coin. Each dish has a very beautiful name. Lobster. This dish is called “Red Dragon Lying on Green”. It’s shredded lobster meat, every bite is meat. Very fresh and delicious. This dish is called “Blanched Conch”. A beautiful bird is made with apples. And cucumber surrounds the clam meat. This bowl is called “Radish and Dried Scallop”. The white is tofu. The green is sweet potato leaves. The texture is like cream soup. Eating the two-flavored soup together. It has a different flavor. “Little Elephant Arching Ice”. Actually, it’s stir-fried shrimp and egg white. The shrimp is crunchy, and the egg white is tender. “Fragrant Seasonal Delicacy”. The seasonal delicacy is crispy fried grouper. The green leaves around the edge are crispy fried mustard greens. Eel. Grouper. Fried shrimp balls. Clam meat. Stir-fried shrimp with egg white. Braised clams. Braised frog legs. “Pu Fish Playing in Water”. The appearance is like small pomegranate dumplings. The fish filling inside. Is the fish meat of the devil fish (ray). Thin skin and delicious filling. “Double Balls in Jade Sea”. Beef balls and pork balls. ^^ Forgot the name of this dish. It’s shiitake mushrooms braised with mustard greens. This fried wonton is called “Sweet and Sour Eel”. The filling is tofu and bombay duck. The “Red Dragon Lying on Green” from earlier. The lobster head is deep-fried and becomes another dish. Crispy fried lobster head. Crispy fried oyster omelet. The oyster pancake is fried until very crispy. Red peach cake dim sum. Shaped like a red peach. Symbolizes longevity. Called “hong tao guo” in Chaozhou dialect. The filling inside contains rice. Another name is rice cake. Candied taro. Crispy texture. Casserole preserved radish porridge. Salty and fragrant taste. Delicious. Finally, a fruit platter is served. Drawing a perfect end to this meal. At night, there are these cars in the mall downstairs of the hotel. And many different kinds of cars. There’s also an airplane. And also a chicken. Wow. Riding this car requires catching eggs. Need to catch eggs. This is the airplane. This is the rooster. Very beautiful, the lights will turn on at night. If you have kids, remember to bring them to play (burn off energy). Driving these cars, you drive here. There are so many different cars for you to choose from. This is Zone B. There’s also an arcade on the 3rd floor of the mall. You can play claw machines. HELLO (shouting). HI (shouting). Turns out the two cars will bump into each other like bumper cars. Let’s go!!! That’s all for this episode. Remember to leave a comment and tell me.
