The nearest stations are JR Tozai Line: Osaka Tenmangu Station and Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line/Sakaisuji Line: Minamimorimachi Station. There are various routes from JR Osaka Station, but it takes about 20 minutes to arrive. First, let’s go to Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which is right next to the station. Osaka Tenmangu Shrine is a historic shrine located in Kita-ku, Osaka City, and enshrines the god of learning, Sugawara Michizane. It is affectionately known locally as “Tenma no Tenjin-san” and is a famous place for students and students to pray for success. It’s a touch panel guide, so let’s go right away! When glass was introduced to Osaka from Nagasaki, the first factory was built in front of Tenmangu Shrine, and glass manufacturing began here. Next, let’s walk through “Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street”! It stretches in a straight line from north to south in an arcade from Tenjinbashi 1-chome to 7-chome, with over 600 stores lined up. It is a treasure trove of Osaka’s popular culture, loved by many people from locals to tourists. It has a nice old-fashioned shopping street feel . “Tenjinbashi Nakamuraya”: A long-established deli store founded in 1955. Minced cutlet: 160 yen It was packed with coarsely minced meat and large cut onions, and was very delicious! “Maeda Tofu Shop” A specialty store of handmade tofu that has been in business for over 30 years and is committed to traditional manufacturing methods. Soy milk pudding (plain): ¥300 Brown sugar syrup: ¥50 This soy milk pudding is free of additives and preservatives, has no unpleasant taste, and is rich in the flavor of soybeans. There are torii gates of various colors. Finally, today’s destination is in sight. It took about an hour to get here. “Osaka Kurashi no Imasenkan” It seems to be on the 8th floor of this building. “Osaka Kurashi no Imasenkan” is Japan’s first specialized museum on the theme of “home and life” located on the 6th street of the shopping district . It opened in 2001 and is loved by many visitors as a facility where you can learn about Osaka’s homes and lifestyles from the Edo period to the Showa period through life-sized townscapes, elaborate models, and videos . Let’s take the elevator up. The ticket counter is right after you get off the elevator. Admission ticket: ¥1,400 (general) *Set of permanent exhibition and special exhibition First, there is the observation floor where you can see the whole of Osaka’s Edo period townscape , “Osakamachi 3-chome”. “Naniwa Machiya no Saijiki” This area is a life-size reproduction of the streets of Osaka in the 1830s. You can actually walk down the streets lined with bathhouses, kimono shops, bookstores, pharmacies, and more, and you can even go inside the shops and pick up the exhibits. This is a reproduction of a bathhouse from the Edo period. “Modern Osaka Panorama Tour” This area introduces the streets and life of Osaka from the Meiji period to the Showa period, using diorama models and videos.
