Tetsuin are commemorative stamps issued by railway companies nationwide, and are unique to each railway. It’s easy to understand if you think of them as a railway version of the “shrine stamps” found at temples and shrines.
A special notebook for collecting these Tetsuin is the Tetsuin Book. Take this notebook to the designated window of each railway company, present your ticket, and pay the registration fee to receive a Tetsuin.
Each company’s Tetsuin has a different design, and they are unique, depicting local characteristics and trains. Collecting Tetsuin gives you the opportunity to ride local lines that you don’t usually ride, and expands the fun of traveling by discovering the charms of the area.
