【倉敷Vlog】岡山の魅力をぎゅっと詰め込んだ旅 | 古き良きレトロな町並みと美しい風景を巡る🍃

The setting for this trip is Okayama Prefecture. We visited the pitch-black Okayama Castle in Kurashiki, a place with a retro townscape. It was a trip packed with the best parts of Okayama. I hope you will enjoy the trip with us. First, let’s take a stroll around Kurashiki. The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, where vestiges of good old Japan still quietly live on. The white-walled storehouses and the riverside scenery with swaying willows are charming. The impressive “Namako Wall” is a unique design that you will naturally see as you walk through the town, and it blends in well with the townscape. Western buildings casually blend into the Japanese atmosphere. It’s wonderful how they blend in so naturally! Carp swimming leisurely on the gently flowing river. Boats floating quietly. Swans basking in the sun. There are many things that gently embrace the Japanese atmosphere. I was completely captivated by the moist atmosphere of Kurashiki. The view from the river boat that we couldn’t ride on because it was full must be special. For a while, our guide showed us around Kurashiki. From the bridge, we could watch the boats leisurely passing by. We felt like we were on a boat and enjoyed the atmosphere of Kurashiki to the fullest. We came to this shop in search of “kibi dango,” a specialty of Okayama. Kibi dango, which appears in the legend of Momotaro, is known to all Japanese people. If you come to Okayama, you can’t miss this. We sat on a nearby bench and ate our meal. The loose illustration is cute…! In the story of Momotaro, it is said that a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant ate this kibi dango. I can’t wait to see what it tastes like! The gentle sweetness that spreads in my mouth and the fluffy texture. The scenery of Kurashiki was the perfect seasoning, and I felt relieved and soothed. Kurashiki’s townscape is picturesque no matter where you look. The more I walk, the more I find Kurashiki’s charm deepens. To Achi Shrine, quietly standing in the depths of Kurashiki. As we climb the stairs, the hustle and bustle of the town slowly fades away. The chirps of birds echo through the grounds in full spring. The building has a beautiful, dignified appearance. The main hall is adorned with a magnificent shimenawa rope. Time flows quietly, making us forget our daily lives. Shrines really do soothe the soul. From Achi Shrine, located on a hilltop, you can see the streets of Kurashiki. The tiled roofs are lined up close together. The view from here is also wonderful. Now, we head to the cafe we had been interested in. This coffee shop serves aromatic coffee made with carefully roasted beans. The interior is a renovated Edo-period building that has a sense of history. A retro space filled with the warmth of red bricks and wood spreads out. The interior has a heavy feel to it. The dim lighting creates an even more wonderful atmosphere. The terrace seats and the interior are all lovely, and we can’t decide where to sit. We decided on this seat, where the soft light pours in through the skylight. Looking up, this sparkling pattern is so cute! Iced cafe au lait made with cold-brewed coffee. We had Vienna coffee. The bitterness was reduced and the taste was mild because of the cream. The balance between sweetness and bitterness was perfect! The cafe au lait, which brought out the aroma of the coffee, was also excellent! Both had a luxurious and rich taste. I was so excited to be surrounded by such a wonderful space that tickled my heart. Before leaving Kurashiki, we went to a spot famous for its bamboo forest. A garden surrounded by bamboo forests that stretch straight out. The cool sound of the water is soothing and calms the mind. The gentle sunlight filtering through the bamboo forest is very beautiful. It was so comfortable that I wanted to stay here forever. Next, we drove to Okayama City. Before walking around the city, we had lunch. We came to this restaurant because we wanted to try a certain gourmet food that is a specialty of Okayama! The gourmet food we were interested in was this shrimp rice. It looked very impressive and delicious. I ate it with the demi-katsudon. I imagined it would taste like soy sauce. It was curry-flavored, so I was very surprised. Contrary to its appearance, it had a gentle taste, and I think I’ll get addicted to it…! The demi-katsudon was filled with sweet demi-glace sauce. Both were delicious and filled my stomach. Now that I’m full, I’ll take a walk around the city. First, I’ll visit Okayama Castle. Okayama Castle is counted among the 100 most famous castles in Japan. It is also known as the “Crow Castle” because of its jet-black exterior. The gold leaf tiles shine brightly against the black exterior wall. The chic and imposing appearance gives it a sense of elegance. The magnificent castle tower really captured my heart! Finally, I went to Okayama Korakuen, which is located just beyond the bridge. You can feel the dignity of Okayama Castle even from afar. Now, I’m going to visit Korakuen, which I’ve been looking forward to. Okayama Korakuen is selected as one of the three most famous gardens in Japan. It is a stroll-style garden where you can enjoy the changing scenery as you walk. The garden scenery is in perfect harmony with Okayama Castle in the distance. The clear water flowing through the garden, the shadows reflected on the water’s edge. Everything that meets the eye is pleasant. Watching the fish swimming leisurely makes time seem to pass slowly. What a wonderful place… I can’t take my eyes off the garden, which changes its expression with every step…! The view from the high ground is also beautiful. I found a nice rest spot, so I took a break here. Nagareten is characterized by its view that makes clever use of water. Water runs boldly through the interior of the building. Being surrounded by the pleasant breeze and the cool sound of the water cools my body. It’s the perfect place for the coming season, where you can feel the coolness of both your eyes and your ears! Finally, we will also have a tour of the inside of Kakumeikan. The scent of rush grass floating in the Japanese-style room calms the mind. The scenery makes you want to stop and take a deep breath. I was able to spend a soothing time.
