• 坂田宮の起源：倭姫命が伊勢神宮の鎮座地を探す旅の際に滞在した「坂田宮」の跡地に、命の徳を偲んで祀られた。
• 岡神社の起源：孝安天皇の時代に宇賀野魂命が降臨した地で、後に坂田宮に合祀された。
• 坂田宮の変遷：建武の兵乱や応仁の乱で荒廃したが、井伊直惟によって再興され、明治時代には郷社、県社に昇格した。
