Ibukijima is located approximately 10km off the coast of Kanonji Port, almost in the center of Hiuchinada in the Seto Inland Sea. It is a small island at the westernmost tip of Kagawa Prefecture, with a circumference of 6.2 km and an area of 1.01 square km, and a population of approximately 400 people. Ibukijima is a plateau-shaped island, surrounded by steep cliffs, and the villages are concentrated in the center of the island, which is a saddle. As you walk up the steep slope from the port and through the village on the hill, you will find yourself in a maze of winding narrow roads. Ibuki Island is the production area of “iriko” (dried anchovies) used in Sanuki udon soup stock. “Ibuki Iriko”, which is said to be the best among the sardines, is a registered trademark. There are many Iriko processing factories called “Iriba” around the port. The fishing season for anchovies, the raw material for Iriko, is said to be open for three months from June to August. Ibuki Island will also be one of the fall venues for the Setouchi Triennale 2025, which will be held from October 3rd to November 9th. In addition to works rooted in sardine fishing, island life, and customs, you can view a variety of other artworks here.

伊吹島は台状の島で、島の周囲は急傾斜の崖となっていて、集落は鞍部となっている島の中心部に集中しています。
港から急な坂を上り、高台の集落を歩くと、細い道がくねくねと続き、まるで迷路のようです。
伊吹島は讃岐うどんの出汁などに使われている「いりこ」（煮干し）の産地です。
そのいりこの中でも最高とされる「伊吹いりこ」は商標に登録されたブランドとなっています。
港の周囲には、イリバと呼ばれるイリコの加工場がずらっと並んでいます。
イリコの原材料となるカタクチイワシの漁が解禁になるのは、６月～8月頃の３カ月間だそうです。
「瀬戸内国際芸術祭2025」では、伊吹島も秋の会場の一つで、10月3日～11月9日に開催されます。
イワシ漁や、島の暮らし、風俗に根ざした作品の他、さまざまなアート作品をここでは鑑賞することができます。
