【北海道ツーリング 総集編】7日間のビッグバイクで巡る絶景と感動の旅

[Music] bike.chech. Honda.ch. Winding. Here we go. Hotel location sampo. [Laughter] [Music] house. [Music] Cheers to our new adventure. Cheers. O. We are going to be checking the bikes we’re going to be riding for the next week. They’re right there. Which one’s yours? This one, guys. Going to be Desert X riding this beauty here. Oh. And mine will be this one Africa [Music] tween. Well, it’s about time to go. I thought the seat of this Africa Twin will be a bit higher, but it’s actually pretty low. I think I got the low seat version. Much lower than my Himalayan 450. Let’s go. We are in Saporo right now. This is the largest city in Hokkaido. Honestly, it looks a lot like Tokyo. I would say yesterday we went to this restaurant and uh got to say a lot of places look like Shinjuku or other busy areas in in Tokyo. We’re going to be driving all the way to Asahikawa today. It’s about 180 km away from here. We’re going to be taking the highway this first part of the trip and then we’re going to be taking some back roads. Hokkaido is just beautiful. It has beautiful nature everywhere. So, I’m honestly looking forward to riding on those back roads. Hokkaido is definitely cooler than Honshu. It’s uh like 23° C right now. This time of day in Honchu, it will already be around 30. So, this is definitely a nice change of temperature. Well, we’re getting on the highway here. Very different from Colombia where bikes do not pay tolls. Vibration vibration. But it’s still really nice to get the chance to come on these tours, you know, try these different bikes and eventually choose a bike on our own that we really, really hike. So, I’m glad. I’m really glad we got the chance to come on this [Music] tour. How you liking the Ducati so far? Tito seems pretty happy. We’re now going to be driving north towards a place called Furano, which is actually very popular for its uh flower farms. Now, there are lots of lavender farms here in Hokkaido. We might be passing by a couple of them [Music] today. Look what I just found here. This little buddy. Oh, it’s still breeding. Poor little guy. Oh, and another one right here. This dragonfly got stuck by a helmet. We stopped right next to the to the main road here. And there’s this super big waterfall. I mean, it’s not that high, but the flow of water here is amazing. Pretty strong. There’s a lot of water because of the typhoon. The typhoon just passed by. So that’s why. Okay. [Music] touring. Okay, here we go. more smoothness. Soch. bike. Good night. Haido. This is base camp. We made it to the town of Furano. We are here in this beautiful farm. There’s a couple here who has a business, a restaurant. They have their own garden and we’re going to be picking some vegetables to prepare our own pizzas. [Music] They have tomatoes, basil, eggplants, zucchini over there. What a nice little garden. Are you from Puranu? No, I was born in Coobe. Okay. Coobe and Tommo was born in Chiba Prefecture. And what brought you to Hokkaido? And 24 years ago I moved because of snow is perfect. Yeah, Hokkaido is beautiful. Yeah. Yes. Your country has eggplants? Yes, we do have eggplants, but not like this. Uh they’re actually bigger. More bigger like Yeah. Japanese has also long eggplants. Long naganasu. Naganasu. Yes, I see. uh 5 g sugar and baking powder and one pinch salt. You’re giving us the secret recipe. This is open. Yeah. Yeah. Pizza’s ready. It looks delicious. So good. [Laughter] Lunch was delicious. What a lovely place. I set the seat to be a little bit higher. It’s much more comfortable this way. Well, I think we’re still about what 3 to 4 hours away from Asahikawa. These mountains surrounding Fano are just beautiful. First gravel road on the Africa Twin. Oh, there’s a guy on a CBR behind us. That must have not been fun riding on that gravel road. Look at that. These are all onions. All of these the boxes are full with onions. Wow. Look at that. This field all onions. [Music] Oh, wow. Oh, the mountains are getting covered by the clouds there. Oh, but it’s beautiful here. Oh, wow. Man, this place is beautiful. Wow, look at that. Woo! We’re on top of the world. This is an awesome tip I give you guys so you don’t lose your tickets at a parking space like this. We’re here at the Blue Point. This is definitely one of the most famous spots here in Kokaido. So, you can see there are tons of people around. [Music] Woohoo! Wow, this looks so much fun. Look at that. Well, here we go. Look at that road ahead of us. It’s literally like this. Oh, impressive. Woohoo. I think we missed the lavender season. Most of these fields should be lavender fields, but maybe it’s only in July. We’re too late. This bike is doing on average 23 km per liter. It’s not as much as my Himalayan, which does about 38 km per liter. Yours is doing 19.6 kilometers per liter, but um the gas here is pretty cheap. 161 y per liter. Well, looks like we’re here. Celebration. We did it. First day. First day. First day. It’s actually really [Music] good. Hotel. The news this morning is Kito will be riding the Africa Twin and I’ll be on the Ducatti Yeah. Okay. Well, here we go. Whoa, that bus stop had solar panels on the sidewalls. Kind of looks good also on the Africa tweet. We are leaving Asahikawa City right now. We’re going to be heading east of Hokkaido. Today we’re going to be riding for about 300k all the way to Kushiro City and we’re going to be going on the Mukino Pass, if I’m pronouncing that right. I think that’s the name of the of one of the famous passes here in in Hokkaido. We’re going to be staying at this hotel right next to the Akan Lake, which is Akala Lake actually that was formed about 150,000 years ago. And it’s actually Hokkaido’s fifth largest lake. Just look at the scenery here. Just literally like 15 minutes away from the city center of Asahikawa. Just beautiful. So much nature here in Hokkaido. The temperature is great today. It’s just about 20°. The sky is perfectly blue. Couldn’t ask for a better day to ride. Oh, such a beautiful day. Oh, wow. Look at that wall there. Wow. Wow. It’s basically like a table up there. How beautiful. Oh, there’s there’s some sort of building up there at the top. Wonder what that is. So no combination. Wow. This area here is absolutely beautiful. So much green, so much water. Beautiful. You won’t believe the view from this place. Absolutely beautiful here. Wow. ridiculous. [Music] We’re wearing the exact same clothes. We got same jacket, same boots, same helmet, both same brand. [Laughter] What are the odds? What are the odds? We met him last year in Amori and now this year here in Hokkaido. Oh wow, man. Look at this [Music] view. Woo. This road is super scenic. What an awesome road to [Music] ride. Lunch looks delicious today. Ka is having some hamburger with salad. This is Japanese radish. This is I think shiso leaves, miso soup and rice. And I’m having some chicken curry with rice and salad. [Music] We’re going to be heading to a viewpoint located on the mountains basically above the clouds. And to get there, we’re going to be on this winding road. This is the Mikuni Pass. What a beautiful lake. What a beautiful spot. Look at that. The road is all of a sudden pretty narrow. We’re literally bordering the lake. Seems like a pretty big one. Wow. It’s really beautiful. Wow. Oh yeah. performance. Yeah. Yeah. What happened? Ah camera. What’s that? Are you okay? This I don’t know what [Music] Wow. Meet Yeah. Woo. [Music] [Music] Wow. Wow. Dark dark chocolate. Really good. Good ice cream and an awesome view. [Music] There are a lot but a lot of off-road trails in this area here and I really really want to take this motorbike and try one of those trails. However, this is a rental and um we’re not allowed to go off-roading. Oh, so sad. So, so sad because those trails looks like a lot of fun. Hokkaido apparently is one of the places in Japan that has uh like the most off-road trails in the country. Oh, looks like we’ve made it to some sort of little town here. Oh, this is pretty nice. Day two. Next level. [Music] It’s automatic. [Music] Oh, I’mmach [Music] hotel. Bye. What a beautiful, beautiful sunny day. We’ve been so lucky with the weather. group of bikers. Today we’re going to be riding for about 170 kilometers. We are basically going south all the way to Kushido City and we’re going to be coming back this way. Uh because we’re going to be staying at the hotel again. We are going to be stopping at Toto Lake where we’re going to be canoeing. And uh if the water is not that cold, I might go in for a swim. We’ll see. We’ll see about that. Apparently in Kushido City, there is this famous fish market. So that’s where we’re going to be having lunch today. We’re also going to be visiting some other sites in this region. I’m really really excited. Hokkaido is just so beautiful. Let’s go. It’s actually quite chilly this morning. I think it’s not even 20°. It looks like a little bug just crashed against my gloves. Look at that. Ew. Looks like this is a brand new road. Hasn’t been painted yet. Oh yeah, they’re going to do it today. Oh wow. Wow. This is beautiful. Look at that mountain there. There are dairy farms everywhere in Hokkaid though. And it’s great when you’re craving an ice cream, you know, but not so great when you think of the smell. Sometimes it’s just too much. So, this is my first time riding a bike that has cruise control, and I love it. It comes in very handy when you’re traveling here in Hokkaido cuz there are these super long straight roads where there are basically no cars at all. And uh when you use it well just get to focus, you know, on the views on enjoying the road a lot more. So I love it. It’s a pity my bike doesn’t have one. Look at this. This is what I was talking about. It’s just a super long road. Straight, straight, straight. And nothing but green around. Incredible. Oh, this is how they cut the grass. Super convenient. Well, finally gravel road. Woohoo. We are riding next to what looks like a big wetland here. Oo, it’s dusty. When you’re riding behind someone, it gets really dusty. Wow, look at these. Wow, the water is pretty dark. I wonder if it’s because of the recent heavy rains. Yeah, it seems there was a huge landslide here. Looks like we’ve made it to Lake Toto. Oh, what a nice little place here. There are two deer over there. We got to see a crane. I got really excited because it’s actually pretty hard to find those birds in Japan. I believe it’s easier in winter time, but not in not in summer. They signify prosperity. So, I think that’s a good sign, isn’t it? I think we’ve made it to Kushido City. Wow, this is pretty nice actually to go out for a walk here. Beautiful place. Look at that. Be careful of tsunami. Natural catastrophes are the norm here. We are at the Kushido Fish Market and we’ve got ourselves uh some tickets, 2,000 yen in total. And we can go around the market. I think they don’t use cash here. So, you just have to buy this and you you use this basically to buy whatever you want. So, I think we’re going to get [Music] Hi to the camera. Uh, someone who watches our channel. That’s so cool. Uh, this seems like a cool place. So, yeah, we’re just going to see what what we can get. Maybe get a bowl of rice and then Kaido will buy some fish. I’m going to get something else. These are some of the stuff they have here. These are fish, eggs. Some more fish over here. They have crab here. They have some sashimi over here. Salmon. They sell Willheart. We just found a crab. 20,000 yen. It’s huge. Bigger than my head, I would say. 200 yen for rice. So, first I got the rice. And then now it’s time to choose fish. What fish do you want to eat? It’s really hard to to decide cuz I don’t know. Okay. macarel. Oh, K is going to try. Well, this is going to be your first time trying. Well, yeah, the first time. This is what I got. A lot a lot of fish. This whole bowl was 3,000 yen, right? All that fish with the rice. Yeah, because Ori gave me tickets. Yeah. So, this is where try. Oh my god. M. It’s really, really chewy. M. The taste is really good. I love it. Really? Mhm. King salmon king. M What fish is that? [Music] Yeah. I got myself some ramen because, well, I don’t like fish. I ordered miser ramen which is uh supposed to be very very famous in Hokkaido. So let’s try this one. So good. Oh, this is so good. So much better than fish. The portion is quite big, right? Mhm. [Music] last night. Actually, it was the first night that we had to turn off completely the air conditioning because that’s how cold it was. It was 15° CC. We had the air conditioning going and I was like, “No, I’m freezing. It’s going off.” Uh, but yeah, I’m kind of surprised how cold it’s getting here in Hokkaido. It’s just the beginning of September and it’s starting to get pretty cold already. Time to get ready. It’s actually kind of chilly today. Oh, I’m really excited about today. We’re going to be riding through some beautiful sceneries. Okay, I think we’re all ready. Last night we visit this little shops here. Was really nice, but then I realized all of the shops sell the exact same thing. Woo! Today we’re heading to Shiratoco Peninsula. We’re going to be driving for about 300 kilometers. We’re going to be passing by Kushado Lake and we’re going to be driving on the Bihorto pass which it’s absolutely beautiful. Really, the views you get from there are just stunning. That was one of our favorite places in Hokkaido when we visited last year. Before heading to Shiratokco Peninsula, which is basically north from here, we’re going to go east all the way to Norco Peninsula, which is this very like slim peninsula. And um it is home to a lot a lot of wild deer. Can’t wait. I’m really really excited about today. Oh, we’re leaving the Akan Mashu National Park right now. The place we’re going to be staying at tonight in Shirco Peninsula is also inside a national park inside the Shirco National Park. These are all onions row after row and they’re very very well organized one by one. Wow. Incredible. Look at this onions already packed. potatoes over here. Oh, looks like somebody got stopped by the police [Music] here. Wow, it’s beautiful here. The vegetation changed completely. Now there are basically only pine trees up here and the temperature change a lot as well. It’s really really cold. Wow. It’s absolutely beautiful here. It’s cold. Wow. Wow. Look at all the clouds coming down. There is a Oh, it’s really cold. There’s a roadside station here. And I think there is a viewpoint of uh Kushado Lake over there, but it’s it’s really foggy, so I don’t think we’re going to be able to see it. We are going to be heading that way from now on downhill. So hopefully hopefully it will all be clear once we start going down cuz the lake is just right over there. We met some riders here at this uh roadside station and look at all their bikes here. They all have a lot of luggage. Even has some the horns from the from the deer here. Look at that. Look at all the baggage here. Okay, here we go. Bye. The clouds are starting to clear up. Wow, this lake is beautiful. [Music] Wow. [Music] Today’s lunch is going to be lamb. It’s a specialty of this region. I don’t know if everywhere in Hokkaido, but of this region. deer meat. I don’t know if I’m ready for this. No, never. Never. Never. Remember, I was vegetarian for 3 years. Well, the smell is is not bad, actually. to me. Yeah, true. It has a quite a strong flavor towards the end. But no, it’s good. Yeah, like it. Lamb here is served with a Japanese lamb sauce and a yuzu chili sauce. Looks spicy this one. spicy. It’s not. It’s super good. Oh, really? You? Yeah. Seer meat. It’s hard. Chewy. Not really, but it’s kind of hard. Whoa. What do you want? for standing. Yes. What’s the [Music] [Music] You feel that power from the beginning. Definitely. This is quite a good height for me. I would say this is like literally kind of flying on top of the road. Like that is how smooth this motorbike is. Like even compared to the well Ducatti and with the Africa Twin, it’s way way smoother. Wow, there’s no vibration at all on the handlebars. Oh man, this bike is something else. It really is, man. My first time on a BMW. Woo! This trip has been awesome. I I’ve tried uh three different bikes on this trip. It’s just been so much fun. Well, anyways, we’re now heading towards Shiraco Peninsula up north. We are about uh an hour and a half away from the place we’re going to be staying tonight. There’s going to be some winding roads going up to the hotel. So, well, I’ll get to try this bike on those winding roads. We’ll see how it goes. We are riding right next to the Pacific Ocean. Look at that Pacific Ocean right there. Wow, beautiful. Well, it’s a pity it’s not sunny today. Seen these tunnels all over Hokkaido. There’s said to be snow shelters. It’s so cloudy that it looks as if it was 6:00 p.m. already, but uh it’s only 400 p.m. What do you think? Awesome. I was getting my arms, my my hands warm up, my butt as well comfortable. I was thinking of you guys and I was like, they must want to come back now onto this bike. It’s okay. If you really want to keep riding it, you can. No, no, no, no, no. What’s my favorite out of three? This one. No, that one is too good. I mean, too good. Really? Yeah. I mean, scooter. Oh, it’s like a scooter. Get off spoiled. Sorry. Bye. This bike was spilled differently. Too good. Yeah. Yeah. Description too good. Born. Look at all the steam coming out. This is a hot spring. Oh, last year we stayed at this campsite and they have this free hot spring over there. Oh, that was an awesome spot. Wish we could go back there. Oh, look at the deer here. Oh, there a few of them. Hey, buddies. [Music] Wow, this is beautiful. Looks like we’ve made it to our destination. Ka is ready to go to onen. And look how handsome he looks in this yucata. Wow. Yeah, like I could but there were only like two or three choices. Morning. Morning. One, two, three. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody says um I look good on this motorbike, especially, you know, now with the color of my helmet. Uh it matches perfectly the color of this motorbike. And actually, a lot of people thought I was going to uh get this motorbike when we first uh released the video announcing that we will get we would be riding new motorbikes this season. Well, here I am. Here we go. Oh, there are a couple of dark clouds over there, but over there it’s really sunny. Today is not going to be a very long day. We are going to be riding for about 150 kilometers. We are in Shiraco Peninsula and we’re heading towards uh Abashiri City. We are going to be staying at a place by the Abashidi Lake. Uh there honestly there are so many lakes here in Hokkaido. We’ve seen probably like five of them already. Before heading there, we’re going to be uh visiting a place here in the peninsula of Chirco, a nature reserve center. I think we’re going to go for a walk. Actually, it would be nice if we can see some wildlife. Honestly, there is kind of a small town here. Most of the buildings here are actually hotels. There are two convenience stores and a couple of restaurants as well. Wow, look at this. Beautiful. What a beautiful road. It must get really, really cold here in winter with all the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean. Oof. Oh, the wind is cold right now. Bear country. There are bear signs everywhere. Look at that. I mean, there are bears everywhere in Hokkaid though, but apparently, especially in this peninsula, everything’s still super wet. It rained a lot last night. Even up until this morning, the sun is finally starting to show its face. And it feels great because it’s chilly, but that the sun is coming out so it kind of warms you up a little bit. I’m on the lookout for bears today. You never know. They could be somewhere here just roaming around. I think we’re here. I didn’t expect this kind of place to be that busy, but there are tons of cars. Oh, they have electric fences to prevent the bears from coming in here. This is a calendar of when the bears were last seen here. So, you see in August a lot of days the bears were seen and today September 6. Just yesterday, a bear was in here twice. This is the map of the area. So, there are basically five different lakes here. Uh we’re going to be taking the long route. So, we’re going to be walking all the way here, there, and there. It’s about a 3 km walk. We started our walk in the Shidco National Park. We’re going to be walking to the Shid Tokco Lakes, which is a group of uh five different lakes. Like I just show you on the map back there. Hokkaido is actually home to brown bears. And this is their natural habitat. So, we got to be extra cautious when walking here. And if we’re lucky, we might be able to spot them from the distance, from a safe spot. I tell the bear, a human coming. Okay. Be came here and uh be eat uh vegetable. These are the footprints. Yeah. And the footprint. Yes. There were 13 different sightings of birds in the month of August. And right now, today is the 6th of September. And so far, it’s been three sightings in the month of September. Are we going to be lucky enough to see one today? Who knows? This national park is home to 300 bears as of 2024. There used to be uh how many did he say? 480 bears back in 2021. And in average, 20 to 30 bears are killed every year because they end up in the towns nearby attacking people. So unfortunately, they’re killed. Last year, uh there was not enough food for the bears here. So many many bears end up uh in the nearby towns. And as a result, 180 bears were killed here. That is huge. There’s a couple of bear scratches over here. Look at that. My friend here as well. Really? And here as well. really good. We eat a cherry hut. There’s a deer. [Music] [Music] Fortunately, we were not lucky enough to see a bear. It’s a pity. Just yesterday, two bears were seen here and none today. Well, there’s nothing we can do about that. One of the things that’s going to be really hard to get used to once we get back to Honu is the traffic lights. I mean in Hokkaido here once you leave the towns there are basically none at all and you have these very long straight roads that go on for kilometers and kilometers and you do not find that kind of roads in Honshu. Uh so it’s going to be very hard to get used to that again. What happened here? Why is he going so slow? It’s really going super slow. There is this really nice river down there. And I know if we could just stop there and be patient, we would be able to see a bear eventually. Look at the view from here. Wow, this place is beautiful. We’re going to be stopping at this roadside station. Oh, Mia Sun is here. Chicken soba. M This here might be the longest straight road in Japan and they call it the road to heaven. Road to heaven. Here we go. Look at that. Wow. You cannot even see the end of the road. We just literally see the ocean over there. And I guess the road just meets the ocean eventually. Straight, straight, straight. How cool. Woo. I think the V viewpoint was from up there. Once you’re down here, you cannot see how far this road stretches. Only from up there. We’ve been on this road for over 15 minutes and it just keeps on going straight, straight, straight. That’s incredible. I think this might be the longest straight road in Japan. This has to be it. Oh, there’s a lot of horses over there. Look at that. They seem to be like wild horses. Well, I don’t know if 100% wild, but I mean, there are no fences at all here. Oh, yes, there are a couple over there. Didn’t see them. I think we made it to a bashidi city if I’m not mistaken. We’re going to be going inside this room. It’s -5.5° C and they have apparently drift ice in here. It’s cold. It’s cold. Oh my god. This is what minus 15 feel like. Look at that. Oh, it’s frozen. Oh, we’re going to be staying at a hotel uh right next to Abasidi Lake, which is literally like 5 minutes away from here. So, we’re going to be heading there right now. That was definitely a fun experience. We are here. This was our final ride with this bikes. Ah, thank you so much. We had fun, didn’t we? Oh, yes. Just came out of the shower and found this. Look at this beautiful sunset. Guy who is saying goodbye to us with this amazing sunset. I’m going to miss this place. Thank you for joining us for these seven days. Wonderful days. I miss you. Oh, I miss you, too. Thank you. I will miss you. I will miss you. Take care. We’ll see you later. We’re going separate ways from now on. They’re going to Sapuro. We’re going to the airport nearby. Oh my god. One of the bikes in the van already. Oh, take care. See you soon. I don’t want to cry. See you later, bro. Yeah. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, too. See you in New Zealand. Yeah. Thumbs up. Ciao. Ciao. [Music]
