Hello! [Destination Walk] Koto Trip 🐦️ We are bringing you the scenery of a walk at a small destination.This time, we will walk in Takaoka Castle Park in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture.The starting point is the Hashiuchi moat that crosses from Gokoku Shrine to Imizu Shrine. The water surface and fresh greenery are sparkling.The inner moat has remained in almost perfect shape since the time Takaoka Castle was built about 400 years ago.Cross the bridge to enter the precincts of Imizu Shrine.Imizu Shrine is located on the ruins of Takaoka Castle’s main enclosure. As you walk along the approach to the historic shrine, which is well-loved by the locals, you will see a large worship hall with many visitors and foreign tourists.In the precincts, there are large trees.A water fountain where you can purify your hands.A calming space with the center of the spring ‘s cheerful air.Going through the precincts, you will come to the Honmaru Square.This is a place with a spacious lawn and a place for families and people enjoying a walk to relax . It is a unique space where art coexists.The contrast between the bright greenery, the blue sky , and the artwork is wonderful.Going through the plaza, we go down a passage filled with spring sunlight filtering through the trees.The water surface of the inner moat can be seen flickering through the trees , and the sound of leaves swaying in the spring breeze is soothing.The bright vermilion Asahi Bridge comes into view.The Asahi Bridge is one of the most representative views of Takaoka Castle Park . The vermilion bridge has a historical atmosphere, and you can see the inner moat and the trees in the park from the top of the bridge.When you cross the bridge and climb the stairs, you can hear the loud sound of a mower.At the plum grove plaza, you can see the park being maintained.Thank you to those who keep the park clean.Go left from the plum grove plaza and head towards Kotakeyabu Square.The fresh greenery is the best.🌿Kotakeyabu Square is full of bamboo and grass. A quiet space surrounded by trees.The contrast between the various greens and the blue sky is beautiful.The shade of the trees provides just the right amount of coolness.There are many benches and toilets in Takaoka Castle Park , making it perfect for a break or a picnic.Enjoying the best fresh greenery, I walk around Kotakeyabu Plaza.I slowly circle around and head towards the plum grove , where the sound of the mower was echoing again.I headed to the right. In your hand, you can see the vermilion Asahi Bridge and the inner moat with sparkling water surface.The scenery illuminated by the spring sunlight is amazing to say the least☺️Today is the perfect day for a walk . Beyond the plum grove, there is also the area park management office and information center of the Takaoka Civic Gymnasium, where you can also eat.At the gymnasium, there are many cars parked, probably for some kind of competition.Next , we head to the zoo area to see the animals of Takaoka Castle Park. The area is a popular spot for families and children.Admission is free.There are many animals such as deer, sheep , penguins, and flamingos in the park, which will soothe visitors.The penguin and flamingo areas are especially colorful and eye-catching, and we could see children having fun staring at the animals’ movements . I was surprised that you can see them for free. There are plenty of rest areas and information boards inside the zoo, so even first-time visitors can enjoy the flamingos. The flamingos are amazing. Pass through the zoo, pass through the Takaoka City Museum, return to the starting point at the bridge, and end your walk. Takaoka Castle Park is a place where the cheerful spring weather and the fresh greenery of the local residents are in harmony.
