We were in Hokkaido from January 1 to 6, when temperatures were below zero 😆Maybe our spirit animal is a polar bear but we loved the sub-zero weather!
We didn't know about the Rapid Train to Otaru. Our train took 2 hours to get to Otaru from Sapporo because there were so many stops. The train was packed and it was so hot inside. Next time we'll take the Rapid Train. The long, packed-like-sardines-inside-a-sauna ride was worth it because Otaru was awesome. Dennuki-koji's restos were full but we got to try the iconic melon with soft serve ice cream at Popura Farms.
Next time we'll stay overnight in Otaru so we can experience the lanterns that line the canal. We also want to take our time exploring Sakaimachi Street. For sure, we'll do the snow mobile ride!
