Can Poverty Excuse Lying and Scamming ? ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฆ vA 153

I ride from Rehoboth to Kalkrand and to Mariental, in Namibia, in Africa.
On the endless emptiness of Southern Namibia, in the very remote town of Kalkrand, I find a very surprising fancy lodge serving delicious food.
Kalkrand is very poor and some local kids behave in a very strange way with me, as they pretend that the only cheap hotel is full, but I easily find out that it was a big lie… what were they up to with this lie?
Finally, the next day I ride to Mariental, where I stay in a lodge with friendly hosts, and as I tour Mariental on my trike, I meet a lot of very cheerful and friendly local folks.

  1. Those kids were forcing themselves on Yves running all the way Yves knew he'd follow the accommodation location on Google.
It's nagging & in the end it's money they want

  2. The title is quite misleading, there is no scamming, just poor people hoping to get paid for guiding. Matter of fact if he brushed them off, they would have left because he never demanded for guidance services

  3. It was a complete scam, nothing more. Notice how those scammers deliberately led him to the wrong gate, preventing him from entering the correct one, knowing Yves would discover that rooms were available. Their plan was to deceive him and redirect him to shady lodges, hoping to earn commissions from the owners while also extorting additional money from Yves. Just like here, where they demanded more for no reason. And what about the guy who asked Yves to buy him a packet of chickenโ€”why? What did he even do to deserve it? Yet, Yves still had the generosity to buy it for him. So, before jumping to conclusions about Yves being in the wrong, consider that side of the story.

  4. I donโ€™t think those kids were scammers, the manager definitely told them itโ€™s full and they simply conveyed the message.

  5. Heavy handed with your judgement, people are often treating the poor with contempt but that doesnโ€™t make them scammers. I understand that your journey has been challenging though with people trying to take advantage of you. Safe,

  6. The way you eat seems like you were starving for ages and the kids you said scammy actually are always expecting something for food from strangers by doing little help to them๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  7. I donโ€™t like the title of this video. The same kid literally wished you a safe trip on your way back. Itโ€™s simply a cultural difference and as someone who is enjoying and taking in Africa you should see the nuances by now.

  8. Welcome to Namibia ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. Please avoid telling people about your movements for next day or about where youโ€™re lodging. It becomes easier for people to set traps for you considering that youโ€™re on a tricycle and South Africa is quite sketchy.

  9. The fence with the barb wire on top made the hotel look like a prison camp or a half-way house. And the bars on the windows was a good indication the neighborhood wasnโ€™t safe. And then every body comes out to want to help you so they could ask for money at the end. And the $10 wasnโ€™t good enough. Stay safe, my friend.

  10. Dear Yves. I love your videos but I disagree with the title of this video "Can poverty excuse LYING and SCAMMING". The kids were not scamming nor lying. They were just trying to make some little money to the best of their limited way. I feel that using words like ''scamming'' is exagerated. It can help you have more clicks and views, but it is not justice to these annoying but basically harmless kids. Juste mon opinion basรฉ sur ce que j'ai vu dans ta video.

  11. Its ok that this Kids show you a place where you can get rooms and maybe the manager dont tell them the true and say its all full to get them out. Its good that you give them some Money for there help, but that they are not happy with 17 Euro and say that this is not enouph is not ok. This is much money in this country.

  12. Your people enslaved them, which is far worse than what you are accusing them of. Europe continues to lie and rob them of their natural resources to keep them poor, therefore dependent of the EU! Long live Ibrahim Traore and Sahel region!!!!

  13. And should be an expert in lying scammers masquerading as investors- still don't pay their fair share of the labor toiling for them while taking African resources out to add value on em outside of Africa cos African must be allowed to be independent. And it still goes on till this day with the French Franc being kept in France as one other example as the many.

  14. You guys you are forgetting that this guy is from different countries with different people that he has met…he has been through alot from this journey so he knows how he should be to survive…

  15. Repot his page Keno Yves always recording young African children.
I think he is using them (scamming) , he make YouTube cash from these videos.
I donโ€™t think he can record children in Europe.

  16. Watching your adventure is so enjoyable and gives a great sense of how it is to travel by bike. I admire your sense of independence, and adventure. Thank you for sharing your adventures!

  17. I am asking the 259,000 followers to consider supporting Yves by becoming a patron. Several months ago, I decided to become a patron when I realized the enjoyment I got from watching his travels. If Yves could get 2% of the 259K subscribers it would make a world of difference for him. So I am challenging all you subscribers out there to become a patron, to keep this channel going and Yves well-fed! By the way, I do not know Yves just trying to be fair and help him. Thank you!
