Akiyoshidai Plateau was a coral reef about 300 million year again, but today it contains the largest amount of karst formations (limestone pinnacles) in the whole country. Akiyoshido Cave is the largest and longest (9 kilometers/5.5 miles) cave in Japan. In addition to the beautiful cobalt blue water, there are other interesting natural formations inside the cave.
