American Girl Cooks Indonesian Soto Ayam in Remote Javanese Village | 🇮🇩 [S5 E71]
Even though we are in one of Indonesia’s most beautiful remote villages, Tim is not having a good day. First of all, he’s sick with a fever and a cough, and this “man flu” makes him feel like he’s on death’s door. And then, I called for a village doctor to come and inject him with… vitamins? Two shots! One in the arm, and one in the butt… It’s a bad day for Tim.
So to make him feel better, I head over to Umi’s mother’s wood-burning kitchen to cook up some traditional Indonesian food – a healing chicken soup called Soto Ayam. And since both chickens and many of the world’s best spices come from this part of the globe, this chicken soup may not just be one of the oldest recipes on earth, it might just be one of the best.
And later, we head up another crazy road to a viewpoint that will take your breath away!

Here in Indonesia so many kinds of Soto Ayam, but you should try the best one Soto Ayam Medan. You can find it in Medan City, North Sumatra. The Soto Ayam Medan absolutely different compares other Soto Ayam.
While you go to Bromo (East Java) you must try black meat soup (its called Rawon), it has an amazing taste.

Soto Ayam is my go-to when sick. The shallots, fresh garlic, and other herbs have a lot more taste and healing power than the boring chicken noodle soup I grew up with.
