This was learned by the maternal grandfather of Kinjล Sekitarล (1904), who was a master of bลjutsu in Kamizato, from a certain person in Shikenhara, Tamagusuku Village.
Sekitarล learned the bลjutsu from his grandfather, who was teaching it to the villagers of Kamizato, at the age of 18, and is the current form of bลjutsu. It is said that this dance was originally performed with a 5′ 3″ oar called “Yeku no ko” (Jeek stick), but was modified to use a 6′ stick.
This dance with sticks places the most importance on posture, and is characterized by a wide variety of striking and thrusting techniques. ใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใThe dance is based on the music of “Kagiyade Kaze.” Before the war, it was passed down as a “village game,” but before and after that it was performed at annual village events, celebratory venues, and on stage. ใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใใ Lion dance The Kamizato lion dance does not have a set form, and is danced according to the individuality of each year. In 1997, a new lion was purchased and a new dance form was created. The distinctive feature of the lion is that it is pulled to the center of the stage on a pole, where it goes through a series of gentle movements, then a galloping performance, then a strict routine, before finally exiting on its rear end.
A variety of traditional performing arts are handed down in each region of Haebaru town, including lion dancing, eisa and tug-of-war.
Many of the festivals are held every year on fixed dates based on the lunar calendar, so come and see and experience the deep, lively side of Haebaru.
