Our family arrived in Manila late last night—and after a travel day of uncertainty that was caused by a powerful typhoon sweeping through the northern Philippines the previous evening. We weren’t sure we were going to make it into town at all, but now that we’re here, we’re ready to explore the city’s sites and bites. Today, we’re trying to fit in way too many stops, including but not limited to, checking out the Manila baywalk and beach, visiting the largest mall in Asia, exploring the top street food of the oldest chinatown in the world, and eating the cheapest Michelin-starred meal on the planet.

ABOUT US

We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience—up close and in person—all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.

  1. 16:00 – Christmas in September… Yup! we start as soon as "BER" months come. 😁

Halloween is just 2 days squeezed in on Nov 1 n 2, and mall displays usually just cover 1 corner.

    But, Christmas! WOW!…

  2. Next time you visit Philippines, try going to BGC. It's like another world outside of Philippines. If Pasay is Casino capital of Manila, then BGC is entertainment capital of Manila, I guess. Lots of park, resto, bar and hotels. It has 5 malls if Im not mistaken. Been there twice (before the city has been built and just recently) and Ill say, it's phenomenal.

  3. I see you’ve discovered the Ber months the 4 months of Christmas here in the Philippines

  4. Filipino way, we starting to celebrate Christmas feels in Sept till January, I missed our country.

  5. I like this family.
They're look very kind and the 2 kids too. Walang Arte . Even they're look like their family is obviously rich coz its pretty expensive in the Conrad Hotel thing 😅

  6. International chain hotels started implementing strict security procedures because of terrorist attacks on 5-starred International hotels in other countries. This is the reason I prefer to stay at local and smaller hotels when I travel. Especially in asia, you can get the same quality of service from a local hotel and at a cheaper price.

Hopia, the round sweet treat is traditionally filled with sweetened mung bean paste. Recent variations have the violet-colored ube paste which is also a must try!

The lime taste that you are getting must be from our local lime – the Calamansi. It is easy to get in love with this little fruit, much more fragrant and really incomparable with the regular lime.

Thanks for featuring Sincerity Fried Chicken. I'm gonna try that Sincerity Chicken!

  7. Could you please make a video of how you plan out your daily schedules? I'm trying to learn how you are able to find all these restaurant locations. I'm going to Tokyo Japan in April and I want to find the hot spots to eat at but i don't know where to start, being that they have to all be places in close proximity for you to be able to try all of them, one after another.

Love your videos BTW? I've been binge watching your videos for 3 hours lol

  8. Awesome Family 👪 the kids are well travelled Enjoy

  9. Wow,, I’m new subscribe. Amazing your blogs I like it. The way you explain I see your face you are happy and interesting especially your kids. Amazing and thanks for visiting our country.

  11. New subscribers here…

I love watching your videos visiting our beloved country Philippines . Thanks for featuring the Philippines 🇵🇭

  12. Try to visit Baguio City the summer Capital of the Philippines 🤗

  13. The language barrier comment is uncalled for. The real issue is that Filipinos are terrible at giving directions. I am first generation, American born and am proficient in Tagalog. My family, who lives in that area, took us around and it took asking at least 3 different people every time to find a coffee shop or a bathroom. I experienced this several times during my recent visit. Most Filipinos, especially in the city, speak English well.

  14. prolly the most articulate informational vlog ever step in to the Ph. almost like a TV show! love this family 🤙🏻

  21. @6:14 It varies each hotel. Luxury Hotel has more security… Even mall’s have extra precautions for your safety…Philippines do have rebels… but mostly out in the Mindanao area… Also, from past histories security are all just precautions.
