北海道川上郡弟子屈町にある摩周湖は、日本で最も透明度の高いカルデラ湖で、阿寒国立公園内に位置しています。湖水の透明度の高さと、急激に深くなっていることから青以外の反射が少なく、湖面の色は「摩周ブルー」と呼ばれています。アイヌ語で「カムイトー：神の湖」と呼ばれる神秘の湖で、湖の中央部にあるカムイッシュ島（中島）は溶岩ドームの頂上部分が現れたものです。

Lake Mashu, located in Teshikaga-cho, Kawakami-gun, Hokkaido, is the clearest caldera lake in Japan. It is located in Akan National Park . Due to the high transparency of the lake water and the fact that it deepens rapidly, there are few reflections other than blue, and the color of the surface of the lake is called “Mashu Blue”. It is a mysterious lake called “Kamuito: Lake of God” in Ainu language, and Kamuish Island (Nakajima) in the center of the lake is the top part of the lava dome.
