Walking in the Jigokudani “Hell Valley” Noboribetsu, Hokkaido JAPAN | 4K ASMR | Snowscape Ambience

This short trail in Jigokudani provided an up-close view of the valley where the brown and gray rocks of the explosion crater were exposed.
This area smells of sulfur and has hot fumaroles and springs.
At the far end of the trail is a geyser called “Tessen-ike,” with a temperature of over 80°C.
The sub-zero temperatures and the snow that people trampled on made it very slippery, so that light crampons were necessary.
But the view was amazing, hope you feel it too!

Noboribetsu Jigokudani in Hokkaido is the remains of a 450-meter-diameter explosion crater that was created when an active volcano erupted about 10,000 years ago.
This valley is also the source of Noboribetsu Onsen, a hot spring that gushes out 10,000 tons of hot spring water per day, with nine different types of spring water.
The valley is 11 hectares in size, and has numerous gushing outlets and fumaroles. The name “Jigokudani” comes from the sight of the steam rising up from the valley, which looks like a hell where demons live.

There is a walking trail that takes about 10 minutes to walk around, and if you climb up to the Jigokudani Observatory, you can see volcanic gases and boiling water spurting out of the valley.
