I spent four days traveling through Hokkaido in the heart of winter. From the Sapporo Snow Festival and Otaru to Biei, Furano, and Asahiyama Zoo, this was a snowy journey through northern Japan.

I caught the magical evening illumination at Biei’s Blue Pond and watched the famous Penguin Walk at Asahiyama Zoo. Surrounded by snow-covered landscapes, I took my time wandering through these quiet winter scenes.
