The Zao Echo Line is a mountain pass road that connects Miyagi Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture. It’s less of a practical route and more of a scenic tourist drive, with popular sightseeing spots and ski resorts in the surrounding area.
In winter, the road to the summit is closed, so you can only travel as far as the ski resort partway up.
In this video, a dashcam drive presented at 3x speed, I drive up to the ski resort, turn around, and head back down. There is no commentary—only BGM.
I was expecting more snow, but due to an unusually warm winter, there was hardly any.
Even so, you can still see landmarks such as the large torii gate (a Shinto gate) at the entrance to the Echo Line and the snow walls along the route.
蔵王エコーラインは、宮城県と山形県をつなぐ峠道です。実用的な移動ルートというより、景色を楽しむための観光道路としての意味合いが強く、周辺には人気の観光スポットやスキー場があります。
冬季は山頂までの道路が通行止めになるため、途中のスキー場付近までしか行くことができません。
この動画では、車載映像を3倍速で、途中のスキー場まで登って折り返し、下っていく様子を収録しています。音声解説はなくBGMのみです。
本当はもう少し雪がある予定でしたが、暖冬の影響でほとんど雪がありませんでした。
それでも、エコーライン入口の大鳥居（神社の門）や、道沿いの雪の壁などの見どころは確認できます。
