The “Old Inunaki Tunnel” in Miyawaka, Fukuoka, is often called one of the scariest haunted sites in Japan.
In 1988, a young man was attacked by delinquents, brutally beaten, and set on fire. Witnesses say he managed to stagger toward the tunnel entrance, flames still on his body, before collapsing. That desperate struggle left an imprint of fear that still lingers in the tunnel’s legend.
Over the years, countless other stories have surfaced: assaults, mysterious accidents, and sightings of a man’s ghost standing silently in the dark. Some even whisper of voices that follow you, footsteps echoing behind when no one is there.
Adding to its eerie fame, legends tell of a Korean ghost appearing inside—dressed in hanbok, leaving graffiti written in Hangul on the tunnel’s walls.
Today, the Old Inunaki Tunnel is sealed with concrete blocks and fencing, off-limits to the public. But even behind barriers, it remains a forbidden symbol of violence, tragedy, and restless spirits.

그 이후에도 폭행 사건, 의문의 사고가 이어졌으며, 어둠 속에 남성의 혼령이 서 있다는 목격담도 전해진다. 뒤에서 발소리가 들리거나 목소리가 따라붙는다는 괴담도 끊이지 않는다.
특히 전해 내려오는 괴이한 소문 중에는 일본 귀신이 아니라 ‘한국 귀신’이 나타났다는 이야기도 있다. 한복 차림의 혼령이 출몰하고, 벽에 한글 낙서가 남아 있었다는 이야기이다.
현재 터널 입구는 콘크리트 블록과 철조망으로 완전히 봉쇄되어 있으며, 무단 침입 시 처벌을 받을 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 구 이누나키 터널은 폭력과 죽음, 원혼이 얽힌 금기의 장소로 남아 있다.

さらに奇妙な伝承として、日本の幽霊ではなく韓国の霊が現れるという噂もある。韓服姿の霊が出没し、内部にはハングルで書かれた落書きが残されていたとも言われる。
現在、旧犬鳴トンネルはコンクリートとフェンスで完全に封鎖されており、立ち入りは禁止されている。それでも、この場所は暴力と死、そして彷徨う怨霊を象徴する禁断の地として語り継がれている。
