【宇佐市】鬼会・ONIE ~フリーマン鬼会参加してみた！~

鬼会（おにえ）とは、1300年の歴史を持つ鷹栖観音に伝わる、無病息災と五穀豊穣を祈願する勇壮な水と火の祭りで、毎年1月4日の夜に開催されます。
ふんどし姿の男衆が極寒の駅館川を松明を掲げて渡り、巨大なドンド（炎）に火をつけた後、松明を打ち合わせて悪魔払いをします。
火花が飛び散る様は圧巻であり、多くの人達が訪れる宇佐市の冬の風物詩です。

Onie is a 1,300-year-old water and fire festival held at Takasu Kannon Temple to pray for good health and bountiful harvests.
It is held every year on the night of January 4th.
Men dressed in loincloths carry torches and cross the freezing cold Eki Tachikawa River, lighting a giant fire and clashing the torches at each other to drive away evil spirits.
The flying sparks are a spectacular sight, and this winter tradition in Usa City attracts many tourists.
