埼玉県越谷市の商業施設イオンレイクタウンの館内で3日、越谷市鳶連合組合による新春の風物詩「レイクタウン出初式」が行われ、江戸時代から続く伝統のまといや木やり、はしご乗りが披露された。はしご乗りでは、若衆らが見事なバランス感覚を見せ、高さ6メートルを超えるはしごの上でスリル満点の華麗な技を披露。技が決まるたびに、観客からは大きな拍手が沸き起こっていた。
Koshigaya Laketown New Year’s Ceremony
On the 3rd, the Koshigaya City Construction Workers Union held the “Laketown New Year’s Parade Ceremony,” a traditional New Year’s event, at the AEON Laketown commercial complex in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture. The event featured traditional performances of the ‘Mato’ (a traditional Japanese slogan), the ‘Kiyari’ (wooden sash), and the ‘Hashira’ (ladder climbing), which have been passed down since the Edo period. In the ladder climbing performance, young men displayed an incredible sense of balance and performed thrilling, dazzling tricks atop ladders over six meters high. Each time a trick was executed, the audience erupted in thunderous applause.
