阿伎留神社例大祭は、全国的にも珍しい、重さ100貫（約100kg）を超える六角神輿が、檜原街道を5町内を巡行する迫力あるお祭りです。
例大祭は毎年9月28日、29日、30日に行われ、下町、中町、上町、栄町、東町の5町の担ぎ手が参加します。（2025年から神輿渡御は29日30日の2日間になりました。28日は祭典のみ）
大神輿に続き、五日市中学校の生徒が担ぐ中神輿、町内から5基の子ども神輿、そして氏子5町の囃子が祭りを盛り上げ、五日市宿は3日間賑わいます。また、神輿巡行の安全を祈願して奉納される五日市入野の獅子舞も見逃せません。
阿伎留神社は、『延喜式』巻第九に武蔵国多摩郡（現在の世田谷区以西）の八社一宮として記載されている国社で、御祭神は大物主命、阿字葦高日子根命、建威鳥命、天児屋根命です。
祭りのハイライトは、30日の檜原街道支庁入口信号から松原横丁への参道です。

The Akiru Shrine Annual Festival is a spectacular festival, rare even nationwide, in which a hexagonal mikoshi (portable shrine) weighing over 100 kan (approximately 100 kg) is paraded along Hihara Kaido through five neighborhoods.
The annual festival is held on September 28th, 29th, and 30th, with participants from five neighborhoods: Shimomachi, Nakamachi, Kamimachi, Sakaemachi, and Higashimachi. (Starting in 2025, the portable shrine procession will be held over two days, on the 29th and 30th. The festival will be held only on the 28th.)
Following the main portable shrine, a medium portable shrine carried by students from Itsukaichi Junior High School, five children’s portable shrines from the neighborhood, and musical accompaniment from the five parishioner neighborhoods liven up the festival, making Itsukaichi-juku bustling for three days. Don’t miss the Itsukaichi Irino lion dance, dedicated to the safety of the portable shrine procession.
Akito Shrine is listed in Volume 9 of the Engishiki as one of the eight shrines and the Ichinomiya of Musashi Province’s Tama District (west of present-day Setagaya Ward). Its enshrined deities are Omononushi no Mikoto, Ajiashitakahikone no Mikoto, Takeitori no Mikoto, and Ameno-Koyane no Mikoto.
The highlight of the festival is the approach to Matsubara Yokocho from the Hinohara-kaido Branch Office entrance traffic light on the 30th.
