Historically, this region supported local farming communities, and at one time even had a seasonal “winter branch school” (冬季分校) associated with Fukui City’s Kamigō Elementary School. The Nakahira Winter Branch School operated for the needs of children in snowy seasons before closing in 1997, reflecting how rural communities adapted education to heavy winter conditions.

Captured under a blanket of snow, the tranquil roads, fields, and occasional structures in this winter landscape convey both the heritage of rural life and the quiet beauty of Japan’s countryside.
