Tā-chan is a cozy, local restaurant located in the Ogura area of Fuchu-machi, now part of Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture. Officially called “Taachiyan” in Japanese, it is a kappō-style eatery, meaning it serves traditional Japanese cuisine in a casual, sit-down setting. Despite its relatively modest appearance, it’s a beloved establishment among local residents who appreciate its homely atmosphere and dependable food. It sits just about 680 meters from Senri Station on the Toyama Chihō Railway, making it easily accessible by foot in under ten minutes. There is also a bus stop, Shimada, just a minute’s walk away, offering convenient access for non-drivers.
Visitors frequently comment on the food, describing it as delicious and plentiful, with a wide variety of menu options available. Many say that the prices are quite reasonable, and the generous portion sizes often leave guests feeling full and satisfied. Although there is limited information online about the exact dishes served, it’s clear from customer feedback that the offerings lean heavily toward Japanese comfort food—perhaps set meals (teishoku), simple grilled items, and seasonal side dishes. The menu seems to cater well to the tastes of the local community.
The overall atmosphere of Tā-chan is warm and unpretentious, making it an ideal spot for everything from a casual lunch to a relaxed dinner with family or friends. It’s not a flashy place by any means, but that’s part of its charm. The restaurant has a solid reputation for providing a welcoming and down-to-earth dining experience, and many customers return regularly.
All in all, Tā-chan represents the best of what a local Japanese restaurant can be—affordable, friendly, and rooted in the daily lives of the people around it. It’s a place where you’re likely to see familiar faces, where the food is hearty and satisfying, and where the service feels more like being welcomed into someone’s home than dining out. If you ever find yourself in Fuchu-machi or nearby, it’s well worth dropping by to experience a true neighborhood favorite. @TastyWaterOM

TACHAN is a local neighborhood IZAKAYA. The MASTER is getting a little old, but he is very playful and charismatic. I think he is just doing this now for fun, so he is generous and the portions are quite big. Check out the SASHIMI! They are such big cuts! Sometimes, he'll throw in a complimentary dish on the house as well, when he's in a good mood. Come experience a local mom and pops neighborhood izakaya!
