香港の状況は本当に悪化しているのか? 🇭🇰

Is the Hong Kong Situation ACTUALLY Getting Worse? 🇭🇰
In this video, I take you deep into Sham Shui Po, one of the poorest districts in Hong Kong, to uncover the hidden reality of the city’s housing crisis. Together with a local friend, we explore Hong Kong’s cage homes and coffin-sized apartments, also known as subdivided homes, and take a glimpse inside spaces so tiny they are often described as living in a shoebox in Hong Kong. These apartments are shockingly small, overcrowded, and still extremely expensive, showing the stark inequality that has made Hong Kong one of the world’s most unequal cities.
From cramped, coffin apartments to the complex dynamics of the local real estate market, this video reveals the problem in Hong Kong and why many people are calling it a dystopia. We tour some of Hong Kong’s notorious subdivided homes, sharing the real-life experience of people living in spaces most of us couldn’t imagine. If you’ve ever wondered what life is like in Hong Kong’s cage homes or how the city became a place where even the smallest apartment costs a fortune, this is your chance to see the truth. The Hong Kong Situation is Getting Worse, and this video exposes the hidden reality behind the skyscrapers and glitz.

  1. It is easy to make a video like this at almost any country. Just find some destitutes in a country and present it as if everybody lives like that. 🙄

  2. never understood the appeal of living in a big city. i'll take my 50 acres and lack of neighbors any day

  3. Hey mate new to your channel, what a eye opener it was shocking to see from the small apartments to the stinking piles of rubbish and the electrical mains in the properties is really bad possible fires could happen. thanks for showing me around Cheers

  4. One of those units is in my building! I know there is places like that in my building, but seeing it is even worse….

  5. I think there’s a misconception among some Hongkongers that he is trying to shame Hong Kong by showing poverty and claiming “this is the real Hong Kong.” That interpretation reads his message too literally and only at the surface level. What he is actually trying to highlight is the hidden or less-visible side of Hong Kong that many foreigners and outsiders rarely see. Internationally, Hong Kong is often portrayed as a mega city—full of billionaires, luxury lifestyles, high-end shopping, and the “Asia’s Wall Street” stereotype.

By showing these scenes, he is trying to raise awareness of the underclass and the everyday struggles that many locals face, which exist alongside the city’s wealth. It’s not about redefining Hong Kong as poverty, but about acknowledging that this reality coexists with the glamorous image the world usually sees.

  6. Hong Kong, The city of dreams!

It's crazy how some parts of the city looks and has the feeling of Cyberpunk 2077!

  7. The real reason that HK has reached such obscene levels of disparity between rich and poor and a diabolical housing crisis is essentially down to pure greed and appalling levels of corruption Essentially there are three extremely powerful and ruthlessly greedy 'vested interests' that control the HK property market – the 'Big 4' Developers [the Li, Cheng, Lee and Kwok families], the Banks and HK Government.

HK Government own all the land in HK and periodically auction off parcels of it based purely on the highest bids. The [Big 4] Developers invariably acquire these parcels of land and immediately calculate the maximum per sq ft rate to ensure the highest possible return on their investment. Finally, the banks provide financing [to developers if needed] but mainly to buyers.

It is absolutely laughable to claim that HK's property sector is a 'free market' – it categorically is not! In most other 'advanced' countries as long as you have the money anyone can buy property – and conversely, if you own land, you can sell it to anyone you want!

The manipulation of HK property values is utterly obscene and has resulted in HK having the most expensive property prices in the world – and by a long, long way! [I used to live on Kam Sheung Road in the NT, and there are countless brand new, modern 'village houses' all empty because HK Government refuses to 'release' them onto the market!]

But what the greedy 'Big 3' cartel have completely overlooked in their disgusting desire to become even wealthier and have unlimited control of the HK economy, is that this 'strategy' is totally unsustainable. To compound matters, HK salaries have stagnated – and in many cases, fallen dramatically. This is a recipe for social unrest – or worse.

HK Government [who have actually admitted that HK property prices are 42% higher than their real market values] has also recently accepted that there is a crisis and there needs to be a complete 're-adjustment' of the market by 2048. The problem is that existing owners will be extremely unhappy [and unwilling] to allow their properties to fall in value.

Also, young people in HK are totally disillusioned by the likelihood that unless they have very wealthy parents, they will never be in a position to buy and own their own homes. In fact, I am convinced that this was a major factor that led to the HK riots of 2019.

As the saying goes – 'as ye sow, so shall ye reap' – seems a very accurate and telling appraisal of HK in 2025. And I believe that HK people will not tolerate this much longer. We are already seeing outbreaks of violence and fighting between 'local' and 'mainland' Chinese.

We have also witnessed a near 'mass exodus' of highly talented and well-educated business professionals [over 100,000 'expats' left HK in the 6 months following the implementation of the CCP's draconian 'National Security Law'. And more than 180,000 similarly smart and highly qualified HKgers have moved to the UK alone.

I have lived in HK for 30 years, and although I am British, I consider HK my home. But I have never known HK to be so unjust and divisive as it is today. The ever-increasing 'wealth-gap' is an absolute disgrace, and for a supposed 'advanced' country to have more than 200,000 of its citizens living in 'cages' is totally shameful.

Meanwhile, it is estimated that during the Covid pandemic alone – HK's richest 'families' increased their personal wealth by over 80%. In fact, a mathematician calculated that if these obscenely wealthy people were to spend US$1 million every single day – it would take them over 400 years to get through all their money.

As a very wise man famously said – 'the world has enough for everyone's needs, but not enough for everyone's greed'. HK, the most capitalistic and uncaring of capitalist countries.

  8. The Kowloon Walled City was demolished a long time ago, but it is both fascinating and shocking to see how many places in Hong Kong still resemble it today!

  9. In mainland, China, there are empty cities, thousands of empty buildings, apartments and empty office spaces. I wish the people from Hong Kong that are living in the poorest of conditions could go to mainland China and use that housing which has been sitting empty for years; and yet they keep building more and more of them.

  10. Getting worse ?? Worse then living under pommy colonial oppressive rule !!!! HK living always shit like this since day 1, poms need to steal as much $$ from the colony as possible from land sale !!!!!!!

  11. I left Hong Kong long long time ago and I'm shocked to see there are still places like this because I have been told old style places already been demolished and rebuilt!?

  12. People are paying to live in these conditions in HK, making an honest living… while in the West, there are people who will complain about living hotels (fully paid for with tax-payers' money) because they're not big enough and the food they're freely given doesn't meet their standards……..

  13. HK government such a lazy big liar 24/7 especially in front of the screen 🤣😭💯💩🙈👍

  14. Hongkong is better than china
No tofu buildings ,to the hongkongers stay your positive
    Thinking of democracy not
    A communist china ✌️✌️✌️

  15. I didn’t realize that 1.4 million people in Hong Kong are living such low-quality lives. It really shocked me😢

  16. I think the expensive cost in HK is the monthly rentals of a decent home for single person, much more for a family of four. Food and drinks are cheaper if you are a wage earner, much cheaper than Singapore.

  17. Hong Kong refuses to improve, is foolish, rigid, inefficient, and its outdated system lacks flexibility. It is clinging to its past glory and is unwilling to adapt, which is destined for its downfall.

  18. Thank you for showing the real Hong Kong to the public. As a Hongkonger, I truly feel sorry for the poorest people in the city. Some of the footage was new to me as well, and it’s unbelievable that it’s real. I hope the government and property developers will step in to improve the living standards of those in need 🏠🙏🏻
