オホーツクとっかりセンターは、北海道紋別市の海洋公園内にあるアザラシの保護施設です。とっかりっていうのは、アイヌ語で「アザラシ」を意味する言葉なんですよ。
ここでは、ケガをしたり親とはぐれてしまったアザラシを保護して、元気になったら海に戻す活動をしています。でも、すべてのアザラシが海に帰れるわけじゃなくて、人に慣れすぎたり、自分でエサを獲るのが難しい個体は、ここで暮らし続けることになるんです。
見どころはやっぱり アザラシたちの可愛さ！大きなプールでのんびり泳いでいたり、ゴロゴロ寝転がっていたり、とにかく癒されること間違いなし。そして、エサやり体験もできるので、目の前でアザラシたちがパクッと魚を食べる姿を見られます。丸い目でじーっと見つめられると、つい「もう一匹！」ってあげたくなるかも（笑）。
スタッフさんたちがアザラシについていろいろ教えてくれるのも魅力のひとつ。アザラシの生態や保護活動の大切さについて、楽しく学べます。紋別に行ったら、流氷だけじゃなくて、ぜひ モフモフのアザラシたちにも会いに行ってみてください！

The Okhotsk Tokkari Center is a seal conservation facility located in a marine park in Monbetsu City, Hokkaido. Tokkari means “seal” in Ainu.
Here, they protect injured or separated seals, and release them back into the sea when they are healthy. However, not all seals can return to the sea. Some seals are too used to people or have difficulty catching food on their own, so they continue to live here.
The highlight is the cuteness of the seals! They are sure to be soothed by swimming leisurely in the large pool or lying around. You can also feed the seals, so you can watch them gobble down fish right in front of you. When they stare at you with their round eyes, you might want to give them another one.
Another attraction is that the staff will teach you all about seals. You can have fun learning about the ecology of seals and the importance of conservation activities. If you go to Monbetsu, be sure to not only see the drift ice, but also go and meet the fluffy seals!
