【宮﨑観光】宮崎県の観光スポット&グルメ30選!宮崎旅行で行って良かった所をご紹介します

I travel 2-3 times a month and this video is recommended for trips to Miyazaki! Tourist Spots & Cuisine Introduction I have traveled to Miyazaki Prefecture three times so far , and I will introduce the tourist spots and gourmet food that I enjoyed from each of those trips in order. I will introduce them using video from my actual trip, so please feel free to use it as a reference, so let me introduce them right away. Tourist Spots & Cuisine in Miyazaki Prefecture Number 1 is Aoshima Shrine. Aoshima Shrine is a shrine located almost in the center of Aoshima, Miyazaki City. The entire island is within its grounds. The enshrined deity is Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto. It is said that many lovers and female worshippers visit the shrine as it is believed to bring good luck in finding love. It is also said to bring good luck in areas such as traffic safety. The path to Aoshima Shrine looks like this. At the end of the Aoshima Sando shopping street, there is Yayoi Bridge, and once you cross the bridge you will reach Aoshima. In this area there is a group of oddly shaped rocks called Oni no Sentakuita (Devil’s Sentakuita). The scenery is very unique and it was fun just walking around. There were also many fortune-telling slips at Aoshima Shrine, including the type that you can pull up and the gyoza fortune-telling slips. Personally, I thought that as you go further in, the tunnel for votive plaques was beautiful. It was very impressive! It’s about a 20-minute drive from Miyazaki Airport, and a 15-minute walk from Aoshima Station . Miyazaki Prefecture tourist spots and gourmet food, part 2: Hyuga Misaki Observatory. Hyuga Misaki is a cape that juts out from the eastern end of Hyuga City, and is home to the columnar providence, a national natural monument. The scenery is magnificent, and you really feel like you’ve been on a journey. From the parking lot, you can walk along the promenade for about 15 minutes. Along the way, there is an observation point called Squeruccia, which offers a panoramic view of Umagase. You can enjoy the collaboration of the beautiful columnar providence and the impressive cliffs. Personally, I prefer the end-of-this-world view of Hyuga Misaki Observatory to Squeruccia . Access is 90 kilometers from Miyazaki Airport, and it takes about an hour and a half by car. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Hyuga City Station. Most of the road on the way there is easy to drive, and the scenery is beautiful. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #3 : Udo Shrine. Udo Shrine is a shrine in Hyuga City where you can see a mystical view (also known as Ryugu). If you go a little ways from Omi Shrine, you will come to a road full of a hidden feel. Follow the narrow path and go down the stairs to a cave. At the back of this cave is a small shrine, and if you look back from there, you can see a mystical view that looks like a rising dragon. It is about a 10-minute drive from Hyugashi Station. It is close to Cape Hyuga, so I recommend visiting both. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #4: Aji no Ogura is a long-established restaurant with over 60 years of history. I went to the Idekita branch in Nobeoka City. I had a set of Miyazaki’s specialties, chicken nanban and shrimp nanban . It was my first time eating shrimp nanban, and it was incredibly fresh. The uniquely flavored sauce became addictive. It is about a 10-minute drive from Nobeoka Station. Business hours are 11:00 to 14:30 (last order) and 17:00 to 20:00 (last order). Closing days vary by store, but the Idekita branch is closed on Tuesdays . Kitaro is also located in Nobeoka City. There are both table and counter seats, and the atmosphere is welcoming, even for solo diners. I tried Miyazaki’s specialty spicy noodles and charcoal-grilled local chicken here (you can also order konjac noodles). The spicy noodles are miso-soy sauce-based, and the spiciness and garlic flavor were incredibly delicious. They’re not too spicy, so I recommend them for people who prefer slightly spicy food over super spicy. Access: From Nobeoka Station, it’s about a 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk. Opening hours: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Currently, Google Maps lists them as closed on Mondays , but their website lists them as closed on Sundays, so it’s best to call ahead. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #6: Tenyasugawara, Miyazaki Prefecture Located in Takachiho Town, the area has an otherworldly atmosphere and a mystical landscape. From the Nishihongu Shrine of Amanoiwato Shrine , walk along the Iwato River for about 10 minutes. The path is well maintained, and there’s a bridge like this along the way , offering a wonderful view. This is the place where the eight million gods gathered to discuss matters when Amaterasu Omikami hid herself in the cave. It’s also said that if you make a wish by stacking stones, it will come true , making it a popular power spot. There are many stones piled up all over the area like this. Access is about an hour’s drive from Nobeoka City and about an hour and a half’s drive from Kumamoto Airport. Amanoiwato and Amanoiwahara are separate sites. Miyazaki Prefecture’s tourist attractions and gourmet spots, number 7 : Amaterasu Railway. The Amaterasu Railway is a popular attraction that utilizes the facilities of the former Takachiho Railway, which was closed due to damage caused by a typhoon in 2005. You can enjoy a spectacular view that you can only see by riding this super cart. The round trip from the boarding point to Takachiho Bridge is about 5km and takes 30 minutes. There are two tunnels on the way to Takachiho Bridge, and inside the tunnels you can enjoy illuminations that make use of the darkness . The view from Takachiho Bridge, which is about 105m high, was amazing. I went in December, so it was a little cold, but the impact was so impressive that it made me forget the cold. The view is beautiful as it is, but they also gave me a bubble bath like this. It’s a great spot to take commemorative photos, and it’s just too much fun. It’s about an hour and a half by car from Kumamoto Airport and about an hour by car from Nobeoka city. Takachiho Gorge is a spectacular spot in Takachiho Town, Miyazaki Prefecture. I’m sure there are people who decided to travel to Miyazaki Prefecture or Kumamoto just to see the view of Takachiho Gorge. There are probably many, aren’t there? This is a truly mystical valley with cliffs about 100 meters high that stretch on and on. It was apparently formed when the Gokase River eroded the fire flow that erupted during volcanic activity on Mount Aso. It’s a natural art created by Mother Nature. Manai Falls also flows here, and it’s designated as one of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls. The view from the observation deck is amazing, but you can get even closer by boat. However, it’s extremely crowded regardless of the day of the week, so you’ll probably bump into people a few times. This rental boat can be reserved two weeks in advance on the website. By the way, I went on a winter weekday in December, and there was a 30-40 minute wait. The price seems to vary quite a bit depending on the season and day of the week. Access is about an hour and a half by car from both Kumamoto Airport and Nobeoka city. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #9 Roadside Stations This is Takachiho. I went there for lunch on a day of sightseeing in Takachiho. There are souvenir shops and restaurants. This time I tried the chicken nanban burger and the croquette burger . They had a new texture and were delicious, so I recommend it for chicken lovers. There is also a huge statue of Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto next to the parking lot. It is about a five-minute drive from Takachiho Gorge. It is open all year round, with the product hall opening from 8:30 to 17:00 and the restaurant from 10:30 to 16:00. However, opening hours may change, so it is recommended to call in advance. Miyazaki Prefecture’s tourist spots and gourmet food, number 10: Kunimigaoka Observatory. Kunimigaoka is about 513m above sea level. 宮崎県の観光について楽しみまでを乗り継いで 観音寺市北区もきたかたわ。 English: Located in the Takachiho area, it is an observation point with a great view overlooking the Takachiho Basin . It is said that if certain conditions are met, a spectacular sea of clouds can be seen especially in the early morning from late September to early December. If you are planning to stay in Takachiho, why not get up early and go and see it? It is about a 10 -minute drive from Takachiho Roadside Station. Miyazaki Prefecture tourist spot & gourmet # 11 Aratate Shrine. This shrine is said to bring good fortune in the performing arts and matchmaking, and apparently celebrities also come to pray secretly . When I visited, there were lots of photos of Anmika posted lol. There is also a zodiac wooden board in the precincts, which is said to grant wishes if you ring it seven times. The enshrined deities are Sarutahiko -no-Mikoto and Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto. It is about a 7-minute drive from Takachiho Roadside Station. Miyazaki Prefecture tourist spot & gourmet #12 Access is about a 20-minute drive from Miyazaki Airport and about a 5-minute drive from the Phoenix Roadside Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #13: Udo Shrine. Udo Shrine is located along the coast of Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It is characterized by its vibrant red gate and main hall. The main hall is enshrined in a cave on a cape jutting out into the sea, and the view from the stairs is unusually beautiful. The enshrined deity is Udo-gusafuki-awase-no-mikoto. Benefits include matchmaking and safe childbirth. Udo Shrine is also famous for its lucky ball throwing. Men throw balls with their left hand. It is said that if a woman makes a wish with her right hand and throws the ball into the hollow of the rock, her wish will come true . When I visited, I walked from the second parking lot due to construction work , but it was about 1 km to the main shrine, so it was quite a walk. However, the atmosphere along the sea was very beautiful, so it wasn’t too difficult. I also recommend it for a morning walk. Access is 45 to 60 minutes by car from Miyazaki Airport. By the way, the road to the last parking lot is quite narrow like this, so be careful when driving. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #14 Gion Shrine is a mysterious shrine located on the seaside of Nichinan City. It is about a 20-minute drive from Udo Shrine mentioned earlier. This shrine also has a main shrine inside a cave, and a very mystical atmosphere. The enshrined deities are Suwa no Orochi and Inadahime, and their blessings include prosperous business, safe navigation, and matchmaking . On the left and right of the main shrine are Yamata no Orochi and Mizuhame no Mikoto. Also, if you go a little further in, the view facing the sea from the middle of the approach was very beautiful. There is a toilet about a minute’s walk from the parking lot . There is space for 2-3 cars on the side. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #15: Nango Roadside Station. This roadside station is located almost in the center of Nichinan Coast National Park in Nichinan City. It is a great place to take a break before heading to the southernmost area of Miyazaki Prefecture. The view of the ocean from here is excellent, and there is also a long observation deck like this. It is also recommended for those who want to relax and enjoy the scenery. In the distance, islands are scattered like this, creating a very mystical sight. There is also a sparrow-shaped door here, which is a great place for taking commemorative photos. The shop is open from 8:30 to 17:00, and the restaurant is open from 11:00 to 14:30 ( last order). It is about a 10-minute drive from Nango Station and about an hour by car from Miyazaki Airport. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #16: Misaki Shrine. This shrine is located at Cape Toi, the southernmost point of Miyazaki Prefecture. The tropical atmosphere and the spectacular ocean view were wonderful. It is about a 10-minute walk down the stairs from the parking lot to the worship hall . The enshrined deity is Uwatsuwatatsumi-no-kami. Nakatsuwadatsumi-no-kami and Sokotsuwadatsumi-no-kami shrines were built about 1,300 years ago. They offer blessings such as safe voyages. Access is about 2 hours from Miyazaki Airport and about 40 minutes by car from Kushima Station. Personally, I liked the atmosphere of the road from the parking lot and the view of the ocean from here. Miyazaki Prefecture tourist spots and gourmet food #17 : Cape Toi Lighthouse. As mentioned earlier, This is a lighthouse located at Toi Cape. It’s about a 5-minute drive from Misaki Shrine. This is a lighthouse that can be climbed and offers a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of Toi Cape. Apparently, there are only 16 lighthouses in Japan that can be climbed . Opening hours are from 9:00 to 16:30. The admission fee is 300 yen per adult (cash or PayPay). Toi Cape, where the lighthouse and shrine I just introduced are located, is also home to wild horses called Misaki horses. Komatsugaoka is generally the best place to see them at any time of the year . When I went, they were never on the road. Be careful when driving, as you may be walking in the middle of the road. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #18 : Sun Messe Nichinan. This popular theme park in Miyazaki Prefecture is located in Nichinan City . It’s especially famous for its Moai statues. There are also several other popular photo spots. Incidentally, this park is quite large, and the walk to the top area involves many slopes and stairs, taking about 20 minutes. The overall map looks like this. You can also rent a cart for transportation. Personally, I think you can walk around, including taking commemorative photos, in about an hour to an hour and a half. The scenery is great, and there are plenty of photo spots. It’s a great place for couples and families visiting Miyazaki for the first time. The admission fee is 1,000 yen per adult. Business hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4:30 p.m. There are certain days off, however, closed on Wednesdays. Miyazaki Prefecture’s tourist spots and gourmet food, number 19: Sannomiya Gorge. This is a hidden spot in Kobayashi City. There are 11 mysterious tunnels, large and small, and a promenade that is about 1 km long . I visited it alone in September, but it started raining and the dimly lit tunnels scared me, so I turned back after the second one. It’s really pathetic, isn’t it? I’d like to visit again on a sunny day. The scenery along the river is very beautiful, and the atmosphere around the tunnels is unique, as if they were connected to another world. Access is about an hour and a half by car from Miyazaki Airport and about 15 minutes by car from Kobayashi Station. The last 500 meters to the parking lot are narrow, so be careful of oncoming traffic. Miyazaki Prefecture’s tourist spots and gourmet food, number 20 : Kigawa Bridge. This stone triple-arch bridge, built in 1928, is located in Ebino City and is 58.2 meters long. It is 17.2 meters high. Apparently, cars used to pass over it, but it is now closed. I was traveling alone and sightseeing in the pouring rain, so I only managed to take a commemorative photo. It was a place with a great atmosphere. Apparently, you can walk on the bridge, but when I went, it looked like this, so it was not possible to walk at all. Access is about a 15-minute drive from Ebino Iino Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #21: Wasen Shunsai Tsuchiya. This restaurant is located in Miyazaki city. I had a hearty dinner at this restaurant, including Miyazaki specialties. They have counter seats and private rooms, so it is easy to go in alone. I went on a weekday evening, but it was full, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. The menu also offers half-size portions, so I was able to enjoy a wide variety of dishes even by myself. Everything was delicious, including chicken nanban, assorted sashimi, and charcoal-grilled local chicken. It was a great value restaurant. Access is about an 8-minute drive from Miyazaki Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #22: Sekinoo Falls. This waterfall is located on the west side of Miyakonojo City, near the border with Kagoshima Prefecture. It is 18 meters high. This is a powerful 40m wide waterfall that has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls. It was raining when I visited, so the water was murky, but the sheer volume of water made for a truly spectacular view. The view of the falls from above and from the center of the bridge were both fantastic. Nearby are also the female and male waterfalls. As of September 2025, when I visited, some of the footpaths were closed due to falling rocks, and there were fallen trees on the footpath at the bottom of the stairs, so I gave up on exploring. Access is about an hour’s drive from Miyazaki Airport and about 20 minutes by car from Miyakonojo Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Cuisine #23 “Sushi Tora” This is the Miyakohoku branch. It is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with stores mainly in Miyazaki, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima. I went there for lunch while sightseeing in Miyakonojo City. Personally, the sushi was delicious and the value for money was excellent. The restaurant was lively and had a great atmosphere, and I was very satisfied with both the sushi and the service. It is a very popular restaurant and fills up quickly, so I recommend coming early. The restaurant opens at 11:30, but a ticket machine is placed in front of the restaurant about 30 minutes before opening, so if you spot it in advance, you can get a seat without having to wait. By the way, Sushi Tora has three stores in Miyazaki Prefecture, located in Miyakonojo City, Kushima City, and Miyazaki City. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spots & Gourmet #24 Takachiho Ranch is a ranch located near the border between Miyakonojo City and Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. There is a shop and restaurant, and a food court where you can get light meals and soft serve ice cream. Yes, Takachiho Farm Coffee was really delicious. If you walk about 10-15 minutes to the back , you will come to a hill where there is a lonely door and a unique background scenery. Opening hours are from 9am to 5pm. It is about an hour and a half by car from Miyazaki Airport, about 45 minutes from Kagoshima Airport, and a 10-minute drive from Kirishima-jingu Station. Tourist spots and gourmet food in Miyazaki Prefecture #25 Higashi Kirishima Shrine. This shrine is characterized by this large red demon. The enshrined deity is Izanagi-no-Mikoto. Benefits include safe voyages and matchmaking, and in recent years it has become known as a power spot and is visited by many worshippers. There is also a legend related to the demon on these mysterious stone steps. It is also called the Hill of No Looking Back, and if you make a wish and climb to the top without looking back, It is said that wishes will come true. Access is about an hour’s drive from Miyazaki Airport and about a 15-minute walk from Higashi-Takasaki Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #26: Kuwa Shokudo. This restaurant is located in Miyazaki city. During my trip to Miyazaki, I stayed at Dormy Inn Miyazaki, and since it was close to the hotel, I went there for dinner. The menu looks like this. I had a set meal of chicken nanban and chilled soup (Miyazaki set meal). I ate chicken nanban at several places during my trip to Miyazaki , but personally, the chicken nanban at this restaurant was my favorite. The taste or flavor of the sauce is just amazing! I highly recommend you try it when you visit Miyazaki. Access is about a 20-minute walk from Miyazaki Station, but it’s only a few minutes’ walk from the downtown area or the area where this hotel is located. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #27: Kushima Roadside Station . This roadside station is located in Kushima City and is about a 5-minute walk from JR Kushima Station. By the way, the conveyor belt sushi restaurant I introduced earlier is also popular. The Kushima branch of Sushi Tora is located next door, and within the facility is Umiyama Shokudo, an Umiyama Marche restaurant that sells fresh seafood. The yellowtail served here is apparently from Kurose Suisan.Divers go into the fish tanks to check the health of the fish, and AI and cutting-edge equipment are used to manage each individual fish. I had a seafood bowl at the restaurant at Kushima Roadside Station. It was an unusual type of seafood bowl where fish and vegetables are eaten together, and at first I was worried because I couldn’t imagine what it would taste like, but it was surprisingly well-matched and very delicious. It was also nice that I could change the flavor to my liking like this. The opening hours are from 11:00 to 14:30 and the restaurant is closed on Thursdays. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #28: Hachinosu Park. This park is located in Nichinan City on the banks of the clear Hiroto River. There is also a campsite and tennis courts here. I stopped by for a break from my road trip and for a walk. As I walked along the promenade, there was a bridge and the view from there was very beautiful. I recommend it for people who like river views or who want to enjoy a leisurely walk. Access is about a 45-minute drive from Miyazaki Airport and about a 5-minute drive from Kitago Station. Miyazaki Prefecture Tourist Spot & Gourmet #29 : Phoenix Roadside Station, Miyazaki City This roadside station is located along the coast of Miyazaki. It has souvenir shops, vending machines, and restrooms. It’s also a roadside station with a great view. You can also see the Oni no Sentakuita (Devil’s Sentakuita), which I mentioned earlier in this article, on Aoshima Island . Personally, I think this observation deck offers a more expansive view, so it’s a great place to take a break from your coastal drive or take commemorative photos. It ‘s about a 30-minute drive from Miyazaki Airport. Miyazaki Prefecture’s #30 tourist spot and gourmet food : Miyazaki Ramen Hibiki. It’s a ramen shop on the first floor of Miyazaki Airport. I stopped by here because I wanted some spicy noodles at the end of my trip. The prices are relatively reasonable for an airport restaurant, and the service is quick, so it’s perfect for those who want a quick meal by themselves. The spicy noodles were quite spicy and delicious, but my mouth stings for a while. Rather than being slightly spicy, I’d say it’s more like, “Wow, that’s spicier than I thought.” So, that’s it! This time, we’ve introduced 30 tourist spots and gourmet food in Miyazaki Prefecture! This channel also posts videos about road trips, and there are some spectacular spots we discovered along the way that aren’t featured in this video .
