【宮城】絶対行きたい仙台おすすめ観光スポット9選

Hello, this is Taka from Zipang55. This time, I’ll be introducing recommended tourist spots in the popular tourist destinations of Sendai and Akiu. This channel mainly introduces hotels and other tourist spots in various areas. Please subscribe and like this video as it encourages me to continue making videos. This time, I’ll be introducing nine recommended tourist spots and restaurants. Please skip to the section in the description and watch. The first one I’ll introduce is Zuihoden, the final resting place of Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai domain. It’s about a six-minute drive from Sendai Station, or a 20-minute bus ride. Zuihoden was built in 1637 by Date Tadamune, the second feudal lord, in accordance with Masamune’s will. It was destroyed in an air raid in 1945 but rebuilt in 1979. Located on the mountainside, there were many slopes and stairs, and it was quite steep. Those with weak legs may want to be careful. Although it was crowded, it was a pleasant space surrounded by nature. Admission tickets are 570 yen per adult. This is the Nirvana Gate in front of Zuihoden. In Buddhism, Nirvana represents the state of enlightenment where worldly desires are eliminated, or death. Passing through the gate and climbing the stairs, Zuihoden appears. The interior and exterior are adorned with gorgeous, vibrant colors. The carving of the sacred phoenix symbolizes Masamune’s wish for peace. Inside, there is a platform housing a wooden statue of Masamune in his lifetime. Nearby, there was also a memorial for those who committed suicide after his death. While photography is not permitted inside, there is also a museum displaying Masamune’s hair and other remains. While it is not particularly large, it is home to many artifacts related to Masamune, so be sure to stop by. In addition to Zuihoden, there are also memorials for those who died in the Boshin War, Kansenden Hall for the second feudal lord, Tadamune , and Zennoden Hall for the third feudal lord, Tsunamune. Although it is a reconstruction, it is a truly majestic building, so be sure to visit. Next is the ruins of Sendai Castle, where a bronze statue of Date Masamune is located. It’s also about a 10-minute drive from Sendai Station. Parking is 600 yen per hour, and 300 yen per 30 minutes thereafter. The ruins of Sendai Castle are located on a hill, so it’s quite a climb if you’re not traveling by bus or car. Aoba Castle no longer has any buildings left, and only the ruins can be visited. Its hilltop location offers a panoramic view of Sendai city. The famous statue of Masamune on horseback also stands here, watching over the city. This statue is the second of its kind; the original was erected in May 1935 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Masamune’s death, funded by a donation from the Miyagi Prefecture Youth Association. However, it was removed during World War II due to metal donations, and the current statue was rebuilt in 1964. The Sendai Castle ruins also contain a Gokoku Shrine. This castle enshrines war dead from the Meiji Restoration to World War II, primarily from Miyagi and the Tohoku region. There are souvenir shops, restaurants, and a museum, which displays materials related to the Sendai Domain and Date Masamune. Sendai Castle was built to take advantage of its excellent topography as a natural fortress. It was surrounded by cliffs on the east and south sides facing the Hirose River, a forest known as “Ourabayashi” (Oura Forest) on the west side, and the Tatsunoguchi Valley on the south side. Sendai Castle no longer exists due to its demolition after the Meiji period and subsequent destruction in air raids during World War II. The Date family tree clearly demonstrates the family’s long history. Valuable materials, including handwritten letters by successive feudal lords, are also on display. Other impressive exhibits include weapons, matchlock guns, and swords. Pottery from the period has also been excavated. The museum screens archival footage of Aoba Castle every 20 minutes. The cinema was quite spacious, with a large screen. The content was easy to understand, using animations and other techniques, which helped me gain a deeper understanding. I highly recommend visiting this place to learn more about the Sendai domain. Next on my list is the Sendai Astronomical Observatory. It’s about a 25-minute drive from Sendai Station. It’s on the way to Akiu Onsen, so it’s a great place to stop by if you’re heading to Akiu. It hosts hands-on space exhibits and observation events using some of the country’s leading telescopes, making it a popular facility for bringing the cosmos closer to you. Renovated in 2023, it significantly increased the number of stars it can display, allowing you to experience a more vivid and beautiful starry sky. Please note that there are only two screenings on weekdays, in the afternoon. The exhibition hall and planetarium are both 610 yen. A combined ticket is 1000 yen. The planetarium and planetarium exhibits use models and videos to display the planets of the solar system, the origins of the universe, and the history of astronomy. Imagine the universe while viewing the planetarium and exhibits. If you’re looking to buy souvenirs in the Akiu area, Agrie no Mori is recommended. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Sendai Station. Akiu Onsen and Sendai City are relatively close, so you can combine sightseeing with a hot spring. It’s the core facility of the Akiu Village tourist agricultural complex. It features a farm produce shop selling vegetables and other items. There are many large, fresh vegetables. There’s also fruit, including large pears. There are also various other souvenirs for sale. I think there were many sweets made with zunda. They also have Kikufuku, a famous Sendai product. There’s also a restaurant, so you can enjoy a meal. There’s also a foot bath, so it looks like a great place to relax. Stop by for souvenir shopping or a break. A famous tourist spot in the Akiu Onsen area is Rairaikyo Gorge. The aforementioned Rairaikyo Gorge is about a two-minute drive from Agrie no Mori. This gorge on the Natori River offers beautiful seasonal scenery, from fresh greenery and autumn foliage in autumn to snowy winter scenery. This scenic spot is known for its eroded rock formations and waterfalls. From the bridge, you can see a heart-shaped depression. The valley can be explored in about 30 minutes, with signs explaining the sights. Enjoy the scenery while strolling. This is Akiu Shrine, known as the god of victory. It’s about a 40-minute drive from Sendai Station. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the valley. It’s said to have been founded in 808, during the early Heian period, when Shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro enshrined Kumano Shrine as a war god during his campaign to subjugate the Emishi. During the Muromachi period, Taira Morifusa, an ancestor of the Akiu clan and lord of Akiu Village, prayed for the recapture of his territory and won a battle. He then enshrined the spirit of Shinshu Suwa Taisha Shrine, and the shrine became revered as the “god of war.” Many victory-praying “nobori” (flags) are dedicated within the grounds, creating a powerful and vibrant scene. There’s also a stone that looks like a giant. Think of a wish while holding it; if it’s light, your wish will come true. In another location, there was also a victory stone. Blow strong “negative energy”—your worries, misfortunes, and worries—into the hole in the center of the stone . Throw the ball with all your might toward the large “victory stone.” When the stone shatters, the negative energy is supposedly dispersed, removing the misfortune. It’s also believed that the god of competition will bestow good fortune on you. Simply breaking it with all your might is a great way to relieve stress, so give it a try. The grounds are an ancient shrine with a charming atmosphere. While the shrine itself isn’t particularly large, it’s said to bestow good fortune on you in competitions, so be sure to visit if you’re in Akiu Onsen. Now, let’s introduce some recommended restaurants in Sendai City. First up is Kaku, a beef tongue restaurant. They have several locations within the city and are within walking distance of Sendai Station. Sendai is famous for its beef tongue, after all. This time, I visited the Brandome branch. After getting your number from the ticket machine, you can check your place online and return to the restaurant without having to wait in line. I was lined up before the restaurant opened, and even though I got my ticket as soon as it opened, I still had to wait an hour. It’s best to visit with plenty of time. They also offer beef tongue as an a la carte dish and set meals. They also offer a lunch set at lunchtime, so you can enjoy beef tongue at a great price. There are seats and counter seats inside the restaurant, but it’s always full. This time I ordered Set Meal B, which includes five slices of beef tongue, and a tomato salad. The beef tongue was thick and very delicious. The tomato salad also went well with the dressing and is a recommended dish. The beef tongue is packed with the flavor of the meat, and it’s easy to see why this restaurant is so popular. Although you will have to wait in line, it’s definitely worth a visit. Next up is Myoan, a soba restaurant nestled in a quiet residential area. Its exterior is elegant. It’s a 20-minute drive from Sendai Station, so it’s a bit far away. This famous restaurant has even been selected as a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Miyagi. The tea served at the beginning was unusual: sobayu (soba soup). The menu has a wide variety, and they even offer course meals. The restaurant doesn’t have many seats, but that’s what makes it so charming. There’s parking for four cars out front, and there seems to be an affiliated parking lot for the rest. This time, I ordered the tempura soba. The tempura was quite large. It cost 1,950 yen. The owner grinds the buckwheat flour daily on a stone mill and uses carefully selected water to make his 100% buckwheat soba. You can fully enjoy the rich aroma, smooth texture, and chewiness of the soba. The tempura was delicious, and the figs were almost dessert-like and very tasty. When paying, I was given some soba noodles as a souvenir. The soba is delicious and the service is attentive, making this a must-visit restaurant. Next up is Murakamiya Mochiten, founded in 1877. It’s about a 13-minute walk from Sendai Station, right next to the Westin Sendai Hotel. Please note that there are separate lines for takeout and dine-in. This restaurant offers the kind of mochi and Japanese sweets you’d expect from a long-established establishment. Because it’s such a long-established establishment, they use the traditional spelling “zunda” (meaning “dumpling”) rather than “zunda.” The restaurant is small, with only a few seats. When I visited on a holiday evening, I waited about 20 minutes for dine-in. The menu looks like this. They also apparently serve zenzai (sweet red bean soup). This time, I ordered the Sanshoku Mochi set, which allows you to try different mochi flavors. You can try zunda, sesame, and walnut mochi. All the flavors were rich and delicious, and I never got bored of eating them. The zunda is delicious, as you’d expect from a Sendai specialty, and the sesame and walnut versions were equally delicious. You can also buy some to take home, so if you don’t have time, you can get some for takeout. If you’re in the area, please stop by. I’m still eating, but what did you think of this video of recommended tourist spots in Sendai and Akiu? It was a tourist destination with a lot to see. I hope this video will be of some use to you on your trip. Please subscribe to the channel, rate it highly, and give it a super thanks, as it encourages me to continue making videos. Thank you for watching until the end. See you in the next video – goodbye
