Vol.173[SUB/4K]

Good morning! This is E-Ma. Our third day begins with the breathtaking scenery of Lake Toya (´ー`). This is the Muroran edition of our 3-night, 4-day Hokkaido trip. Today, we’ll be sightseeing around Muroran City, en route to our next hot spring resort. Please take your time to read until the end (^^). Now, I’ll get ready and head to the breakfast area (´-`*). Let’s eat! (´ー`). After the meal, I’ll return the duck (^.^). The hotel had a wonderful view from our room (´ー`). Now, let’s depart Lake Toya (*’▽’). About 20 minutes after leaving the hotel, we came across a roadside station, so we decided to stop by. We couldn’t buy anything, but the souvenir shop was worth a look (^.^). It’s so huge (゚Д゚). It’s almost like a supermarket. There’s also a food court . “Date History Forest General Park.” From the roadside station, you can pass through this gate to enter the park. This park is surrounded by stone walls that make you think there might be a castle. It’s said that members of the Watari Date clan of the Sendai domain, led by Date Kuninari, settled in this area in 1870. Perhaps the castle-like structure is due to the area’s ties to the Watari Date clan. I don’t know the details, though… (^▽^;). At a roadside station, I saw a sign that read, “World Heritage Site Registration Decided!” Since it’s nearby, I decided to stop by. Even when I plan a trip, it’s always like this; I never have enough time. (^_^;). Even though the parking lot is so large, there’s only one car parked there… Kitakogane Shell Mound is a settlement site from the Early and Middle Jomon period, approximately 7,000 to 4,500 years ago. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in July 2021 as part of the “Jomon Sites of Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku.” Numerous tools made from shells, fish bones, marine animal bones, and animal bones and horns have been excavated from the shell mound. Smoke is coming out of it. (゚Д゚). “Pit dwelling.” Looking inside, I see a fire burning! (゚д゚)! It’s smoky! (;゚Д゚). Is anyone there? Bones? (;・∀・). The “Waterside Ritual Site” displays real artifacts from the Jomon period unearthed during excavations. (They all look like simple stones, though…) The “Kitakogane Shell Mound Information Center” is located within the park. No matter how you look at it… they can’t be real, can they? (^▽^;). It says they’re replicas. Pottery and stone tools excavated from the Kitakogane Shell Mound are on display. Now, let’s head to Muroran City. We’ve entered Muroran City. The bridge we’re about to cross is Muroran’s symbol, the Shiratori Ohashi Bridge. It’s the longest suspension bridge in eastern Japan, measuring 1,380 meters in length. At night, the entire bridge is lit up. Apparently, you can see a beautiful night view from one of Muroran City’s many observation decks. (´ー`) It’s been designated a “Night View Heritage and Light-Up Heritage of Japan,” so I wanted to see it, but… On this trip, Muroran was only a daytime sightseeing stop, so it’s a shame I didn’t get to see it (._.). I planned it myself though (^▽^;). Even though it was daytime, I decided to go to one of the many observation decks. You could see the Shiratori Bridge clearly (*’▽’). It had been so sunny just a moment ago, but as soon as I arrived in Muroran, it was completely covered in clouds (>_<). It's a shame the weather was so bad, even though it's an observation deck with a 360-degree view (._.). It started to rain lightly. I hope it doesn't rain any more... I arrived at my next destination. There's a roadside station inside a building called Minato Oasis Muroran. I arrived at a seaside park adjacent to the roadside station. My reason for coming to the park is to see something that can be seen from here (*'▽'). The Bell of Happiness. Bells are being rung all over the country to bring happiness to everyone ( *´艸`). Now that I've completed my bell-ringing mission, I'm heading to my next destination. I've arrived. This building was constructed in 1912 at its current location as the third station building. It currently serves as a tourist information center and is open to the public. Railway documents, tools, and photographs are on display. I got a stamp! A steam locomotive is on display at the adjacent "Popporan Square." The rain got heavier and the temperature dropped during our trip. Although there were still places I wanted to see, I decided to have lunch first. I came here to try Muroran's specialty curry ramen. The mini curry ramen was 880 yen, and the gyoza set (without rice) was 400 yen. The curly noodles were my favorite, and the soup was just the right level of spiciness to drink down. The fukujinzuke pickles were a nice accent. (*'▽') The curry ramen warmed me up. (´ー`) I was glad the rain stopped while I was eating. (*'▽') This scenic spot features a series of sheer cliffs about 100 meters high, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean on clear days. At the tip of the cape is the "Cape Chikiu Lighthouse." The road to the lighthouse was off-limits. Isn't it difficult to get the lighthouse in the photo at this spot? I head up to the observation deck. The wind is so strong I feel like I might get blown away, and the sky is overcast, but the view is great (*'▽'). And at the highest point of the observation deck is... the "Bell of Happiness." Did it bring happiness to everyone? (´ー`). The bell rang at just the right time ( *´艸`). Whenever we come to the cape where the lighthouse is located, there's a high probability that the wind is strong or the weather is bad (´Д`). I want to do something about this bad streak (._.). I take a little detour to a scenic spot along the coast. This place is named after the reddish-brown cliffs, which look like a golden folding screen when the sun hits them. I feel like scenic spots are best enjoyed on sunny days (´Д`). Since I'm here, I'll stop by another scenic spot along the road. This is an observation deck with views of sheer cliffs and oddly shaped rocks. The rough crashing waves really make me feel like I'm in the sea of Hokkaido (^.^). This concludes our tour of Muroran. Now, let's head to the last hot spring resort of this trip (´ー`). Next time, we'll be covering a 3-night, 4-day trip to Hokkaido, "Noboribetsu Onsen Edition." I hope this video will be of some use to you. If you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up, give it a hype, and subscribe to our channel! We're also looking forward to your opinions and feedback (´ー`). Thank you for watching until the end. Please look forward to the next one~(^_^)/~
