川越グルメ:バスと徒歩で満喫!氷川神社お詣り後に極旨鰻~太麺焼きそばまで!

Hello, this is TT! I’m staying at the Palace Hotel Omiya for one night and exploring the Little Edo area of Kawagoe. I stayed at this hotel after visiting the Railway Museum Night Museum, which I uploaded last time. I posted an introduction to the room in my previous video, so please take a look! The Railway Museum was also amazing, so I would be happy if you could also check out my previous video . I fell asleep immediately after visiting the museum. This time, I started with the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was at the restaurant “Parterre,” and there were six other attractive restaurants and bars. It cost 24,300 yen for two people for one night and two days, including breakfast. What kind of breakfast will we have? At first glance, the live kitchen is a surefire hit with a wide selection of dishes. French toast seems to be a specialty. They also apparently serve steaks in the morning, but I can’t find any at the moment. However, just looking at the food in front of me I can tell it’s high quality . I go in with my stomach’s cosmos at full throttle. The warm vegetables also look very delicious. This is just my own personal standard, but I think all vegetables that are good are good…(?) The croissant bread made with AOP butter is delicious, guaranteed♪ Miso soup is also an important standard for TT♪ We’ll have the hotel’s special curry later, which is also an important standard♪ And this is one of Japan’s three great teas, so we’ll have our own chazuke (rice topped with Sayama tea), their specialty♡ We can add as much of our favorite food as we like and pour Sayama tea over it♪ There’s a wide selection of fresh juices , and I even drank some Chichibu source water on the spot lol. There are quite a few delicious ingredients that are sourced from a focus on local production and consumption ! The famous jelly fries are said to have their name derived from the oval-shaped coin-shaped zeni fries lol. In the last video, I uploaded a delicious dish I had at Omiya Station. Originally, railway and factory workers often ate it, and now we continue with some delicious local specialties. The Palace Hotel is close to Omiya Station and offers such a wide range of amenities for just 12,150 yen per person per night, which is very much appreciated … Tofu from a long-established local shop. Delicious tofu is the perfect accompaniment to both sake and rice. My partner , the chef, made an omelette, and T-chan took the photo. He doesn’t touch it unnecessarily, and when it comes to making decisions, he is sure to do so with precision – a samurai, the speed king. Sorry I couldn’t get the focus right on the chef’s skill… (Cameraman T-chan, you’re improving your skills from now on, aren’t you?!) The samurai starts to put the finishing touches on it. Amazing! I’ll be grateful for this later ♪ T-san’s Round 1 will be attacking with local Japanese cuisine, of course the chef’s omelette will be a starter, and then we’ll have our own chazuke with Sayama tea . T-ko’s lineup will be mainly Western food, with a samurai omelette, jelly fries, and… miso soup with our own chazuke ♪ We’ll start right away. First, the chef’s omelette, which is super creamy and delicious! We’ll pour Sayama tea generously over the one topped with local produce, which is irresistible . Round 2 will be Western food, and we can’t forget the AOP butter croissant. Round 3 will be the hotel’s special curry and miso soup. Miso soup and curry are a national dish ♪ The miso soup soaks up the flavor… once again proving that hotel curry is delicious lol. The AOP butter croissant was so delicious I wanted a second helping , but I resisted the urge to eat more and prepared to explore Kawagoe. From JR Omiya, we head to Kawagoe on the Kawagoe Line. We arrive at Omiya Station on the Kawagoe Line . It takes about 20 minutes to arrive at Kawagoe Station , enjoying the view from the train window. Kawagoe Station is quite large. Right, let’s look for the bus terminal. Kawagoe Station on the Tobu Tojo Line. As you’d expect from Little Edo, it’s thriving lol. JR, Tobu, and Seibu lines serve Kawagoe , and a little north of JR are Seibu Honkawagoe Station and Tobu Kawagoe-shi Station. Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, which we want to visit, is to the north, and the main shopping district including the Toki no Kane Bell is in between. We’ll take the bus from JR Kawagoe to Hikawa Shrine, then walk to Kashiya Yokocho and then to the main street, which is a decent workout plan lol. The bus leaves JR Kawagoe Station via the east exit and passes Tobu Kawaguchi Station, but T got off at the west exit by mistake, which resulted in a significant loss of time ( ゚Д゚) We head for Tobu bus stop number 7 at the east exit and finally make our way there ♪ We set off safely towards Hikawa Shrine and on the way we stopped at Seibu Honkawagoe Station and saw Hikawa Shrine! 宮城県の北端から南端まで、東北本線・陸羽東線を乗り継いで 旅水場 English: The enshrined deities are Susanoo-no-Mikoto, his wife Inadahime-no-Mikoto , and their child Okuninushi-no-Mikoto. Okuninushi-no-Mikoto is another name for Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, the enshrined deity of Izumo Taisha Shrine. As Inadahime-no-Mikoto’s parents are enshrined here, they are worshipped as the gods of family harmony, marital harmony, and matchmaking. The grounds are small, but the enshrined deity is impressive, and there are many subordinate shrines lined up in the back. Heading towards the torii gate, we pass under a cute windmill. We purify ourselves at the magnificent Otorii gate temizuya (water purification fountain). It is currently the middle day of Silver Week in September, and is bustling with many worshippers. The two sacred trees are a pair of zelkova trees that are over 600 years old, and we thought we would gain energy by walking around the “couple zelkova trees,” but foreign tourists were excited and taking turns taking photos lol . We hope we were able to gain energy and have a good visit to the shrine, and that the world will also become a better place for us. From here, we will first walk to Kashiya Yokocho, then head to Toki no Kane (Toki no Kane) where we will have lunch at a long-established eel restaurant and try Kawagoe’s soul food! The road from Hikawa Shrine to Kashiya Yokocho has a Little Edo feel to it. Fudanoji Intersection is the main crossroads leading to Kashiya Yokocho and Toki no Kane. Kashiya Yokocho is to the west, Kawagoe Castle ruins to the east, and Toki no Kane to the south. Kashiya Yokocho is lined with shops. I took a leisurely stroll, wondering what to eat. The parking lot sign was also very stylish . Wow! Sauce rice crackers! The regular sauce is good, but I loved plum jam when I was little, and I also liked gluten-free sweets. I ‘m craving them all now. I’ll have the sweet potato soft serve ice cream on the corner. I chose the mix and was able to pay with PayPay. Using potato chips as a spoon, T-chan took her first bite . She looked satisfied, so good! T-chan also started to eat . The flavor was unstoppable. ♪ I discovered skewered pickles! I chose plum pickled radish. Such a crunchy texture!!! T-chan couldn’t help but eat one too. It was so delicious ! The plum and radish were crisp and juicy, and the flavor was overwhelming. Third generation Ayaka-san highly recommended! “Imoju,” where T-chan had been alone before, serves the usual unaju, but the specialty is steamed potato rice topped with eel. Surrounded by waterways, it’s a lovely space. On the way to Toki no Kane, there are plenty of temptations along the way. Turning at the intersection at the main street, “Toki no Kane Entrance,” you’ll see a towering bell and watch the bell tower. The street is called “Kanetsuki-dori.” The original tower was built 400 years ago, but has been rebuilt after numerous fires, and the current tower is the fourth. The bell chimes four times a day: at 6:00 AM, noon, 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM. Going under the tower , you’ll come across Yakushi Shrine, a long-established eel restaurant called Ogawakiku . Today’s lunch is here, but because it’s a very popular restaurant, you’ll need to enter your name on the tablet and wait your turn. I clocked in 12:30 and waited an hour and a half! During that time, I enjoyed a stroll and a rest. As you’d expect from Little Edo, there’s a rest area with a welcoming atmosphere called Kajimachi Square. Even though it was the end of September and it was incredibly hot, I was able to relax in the mist-equipped rest area . I was so grateful… It even had the famous Komon Soba restaurant! I agonized over what to do, but I decided to try the eel first. I went to a medaka skewer restaurant. In front of the prestigious Rensho-ji Temple, founded in the Muromachi period, there ‘s, of course, a street in front of the temple where the temptation of delicious food seems immense . Yes, temptation! Inside the Koedo Inn, there ‘s a row of restaurants called Enmusubi Yokocho, and of course, there are plenty of rooms for overnight stays. Before the eel, I satisfied my hunger with tea or coffee. There were egg waffles, a chawanmushi restaurant, the popular Mrs. Hamburger, delicious curry, and even dumplings . It was such a waste to only have coffee. lol The coffee was 400 yen, and they said it took a while to drip, so I went !!! It was incredibly carefully dripped for 400 yen , and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal! It’s almost time for the eel, so we enter the restaurant! Little Edo! Wonderful! We leave our shoes in the shoe locker and head upstairs . The stairs in this old house are steep… We wait in the Japanese-style space for a while, with tables and chairs in a Japanese-Western fusion style . We have beer, cloudy sake, and eel bone crackers as an appetizer . It’s hot! Wait! I’ll have a beer m(_ _)m I ‘m so happy ♡ T-chan pours me the cloudy sake. It’s the best… T-chan reaches for the bone crackers . No words needed… It’s delicious…♪ First the eel roll arrives. Let’s have one. It’s heavy! It’s served with grated daikon radish. It’s piping hot, with plenty of eel in a fluffy egg. Go to heaven! The unaju has arrived. The grilled kabayaki is just amazing… pickles and especially the soup . Of course, we start with the liver soup . The elegant flavor soaks into the liver, and we also have the kabayaki . It’s crunchy, so let’s go straight to the kabayaki. My chopsticks go down easily. No words needed, it’s delicious… I devoured the pickles and washed them down with sake. It was the best, thank you for the meal! We had decided to go to another place, so we headed straight for “Makotoya”, a famous restaurant serving Kawagoe’s soul food, thick noodle yakisoba. Ah, I can’t take it anymore, the aroma in the restaurant, the menu, and the charming guys that drive foodies crazy. Come on, they’re too generous, I’m knocked out…! Even though I was down, I was still overwhelmed… Ahhhhh… my thoughts… Can people in Kawagoe eat this anytime? There were lots of signatures of famous people, not just food-related celebrities(?). As you ‘d expect from a famous soul food restaurant , I overcame myself and ordered the classic soul food thick noodle sauce fried soba and thick noodle salt fried soba . The chewy texture… and the exquisite sauce clinging to the noodles. I also added salt. The noodles were really thick , and the rich, rich flavor spread the moment I put them in my mouth. It was more delicious than I could have imagined, thank you for the meal! There was also a yakitori restaurant that always had a line of people waiting. There are so many places I want to try…! I stopped by a Japanese sweets shop to buy souvenirs for friends. The beautiful packaging and easy portioning make it a nice, thoughtful souvenir, but… my biggest regret is not buying a souvenir at Sandaime Ayaka! I was planning to come back, but I gave up from walking . If you go to Kashiya Yokocho, I recommend buying one right away! I returned to Kawagoe Station by bus. Little Edo Kawagoe was a wonderful place! It was my first time in Kawagoe, but as you’d expect from Little Edo, there was a lot of delicious food. I’ve included the details in the description, so please stop by! I also upload daily pictures of the cute sparrows on Tiktok, so please stop by there too! Your channel subscriptions and likes really support me, so please subscribe! Thank you for watching!
