【奇跡の朝】雲の上に浮かぶ寺と最強縁結び神社。関西にこんな場所があったなんて…

Hi, I’m Ikenoueno, a sea of clouds lover. Many of the famous sea of clouds in the Kansai region are difficult to access from Osaka. Today, I’d like to introduce a relatively accessible hidden gem , just an hour from Osaka. What’s more , it’s a great area where you can visit two sea of clouds in a short amount of time in the morning. I arrived at my first destination before sunrise. It’s about 20 minutes from Shino Interchange on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. Several other visitors were already there. Sea of clouds have been appearing continuously for the past few days. It’s dim, but the sea of clouds is visible. Before dawn, the sky slowly changes color, and mist fills the Kameoka Basin. Kameoka is a city particularly prone to fog. Its deep basin terrain allows cold air to accumulate, making it prone to fog. It’s a quiet moment, with the light of the morning glow and the soft sea of clouds overlapping. The cold air that has accumulated in the valley rises as mist and quietly flows over the mountains. The three conditions favoring the appearance of sea of clouds are a clear morning, weak winds, and high humidity. The wind was weak today, and the weather forecast predicted good weather from the morning. It was incredibly quiet, a time that cleared the mind. Drawn by its charm, many people came here from the morning. You can watch live footage on the Kameoka City Tourism Association’s website. It seems some people came after watching the live footage. It’s very soothing. While the sea of clouds is still visible, we moved on to our next spot. Perhaps it’s up on that mountain nearby? It’s a 20-minute drive from the Mist Terrace. We headed to a temple on the mountain northwest of the terrace. From here, we drove about 1 kilometer along a mountain path. We continued along a bamboo forest path. It was so quiet that we were a bit worried about bears. While I was thinking about this… I came across a family of wild deer. There were three of them. Senjyuji Temple is a historic temple founded by Kobo Daishi, or Kukai, in 807. Even in early December, the autumn leaves are still beautiful. Shrouded in morning mist, it’s a mystical sight. Standing at the temple gate, one would normally be able to see the entire Kameoka townscape, but on this day, the entire area was a sea of clouds. A mystical sight unfolded, as if the town itself were floating in the sky. I wasn’t the only one there. There were several photographers there, too. Still, compared to the Foggy Terrace, there were far fewer people. This must be a hidden gem. The sea of clouds below, the morning sun directly ahead. This is truly a “temple with a spectacular view above the clouds.” Climbing the mountain behind the temple, one can reach a vantage point with an even clearer view of the sea of clouds. As the temperature rises and the sun rises, the mist quickly transforms, so this view is only available for a brief moment. “A spectacular view that appears only in the morning, under special conditions.” It was truly a miraculous moment to witness it right before my eyes. Past live camera footage is available on the Senjyuji Temple website, which can be useful for planning your visit. Before I knew it, I was enveloped in mist. I’m grateful to have been able to “encounter” this breathtaking morning view, which cleanses my soul. After this, we head to the “God of Matchmaking,” also located in Kameoka City, to offer thanks. The presence of a sea of clouds means the world below is shrouded in mist. As of December 2nd, the Enkianthus azalea is reaching its peak. Izumo Taisha Shrine is touted as Japan’s premier matchmaking destination. The approach to the shrine is beautiful. The shrine enshrines Okuninushi-no-Mikoto and his wife, Mihotsuhime-no-Mikoto. While Okuninushi-no-Mikoto had many wives, Mihotsuhime-no-Mikoto is said to be the “final wife he took when he handed over his country, ” symbolizing their deep bond. While Shimane’s Izumo Taisha Shrine enshrines only Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, Izumo Taisha Shrine is unique in that it enshrines a married couple as its main deities. This may explain why it is said to have such strong benefits for matchmaking. Passing through the torii gate next to the main shrine, we enter the shrine forest. Mount Mikage, towering beautifully behind the main shrine, has been worshipped since ancient times. Just being surrounded by this tranquil atmosphere seems to calm the mind. Deeper into the temple grounds lies the “Kaminoiwakura,” a sacred rock symbolizing the mountain’s sanctity. This enormous rock is enshrined as a sacred object, remaining in its original, ancient form, making it a truly precious site. Furthermore, the surrounding area is dotted with historical burial mounds and Kasuga Shrines, evocative of the land’s long history of worship. The “Inari Daimyojin” shrine sits quietly. Beyond it lies the “Mikage Falls,” where pure water flows. The sound of the water echoing through the silence gently soothes the soul, like a prayer. Mountains, rocks, water, and shrines blend in harmony. This truly sacred space feels like a sacred precinct. Afterward, I went to see the “simultaneous water release” of Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato, which takes place only twice a year. The most spectacular scenery can be seen in another video! (▼Link in the description) The three places we visited this time and the drive to Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato are especially recommended this time of year (November to March). Thank you for watching until the end. If you found this video helpful, please rate it highly and share it!
