【北海道車中泊の旅⑤】おっさん軽自動車の旅 65日間

Day 6 of my Hokkaido trip. ←Current location. temperature: 28°C. Hot. Morning walk. Nice weather. I need an umbrella. It’s 8am now. No one around. Today I’m going to that island. Apparently the view is spectacular. This was the best Michinoeki station I’ve been to so far. I realized I was stopping here. I want to modify the rear door so that it opens from the inside. Breakfast was leftover crab rice and a boiled egg. I’m sad to leave, but I set off. There’s a campsite nearby. But it’s closed because of a bear. I’ll just take a quick look. I’d like to come back to Michinoeki. Arrived. Apparently the view is spectacular over there. I wonder if there are any bears? It’s a quiet place. I’m filming a video. There’s no one there, so I’ll play my guitar. What’s that? I’ll hide my presence . It’s threatening. Before I knew it, it was 1pm. This is a campsite I’d like to return to. Excuse me. Let’s go. I was surprised. The sea is beautiful. But trees and trash are washed up. I’ll fill up on water. I’m allowed to fill up to two bottles at a time. There’s a nice looking shop up ahead. [Asunaro Cinch Center] Apparently the bread and pizza are delicious. Asunaro Cinch Center. Pizza 150 yen [US$1]. Fried bread 50 yen [US$0.3]. Maritozzo 100 yen [US$0.7]. A very cheap bakery. I moved to another spot to eat bread. There’s a boat on the left. What’s that? [Seagull Island Parking Lot] Arrived. Egg sandwich 100 yen [US$0.7]. Pizza 150 yen [US$1]. Maritozzo 100 yen [US$0.7]. Two pieces of fried chicken 200 yen [US$1.3]. Total 550 yen [US$3.7]. Cheap. If I start with the bread, my blood sugar will spike. I start with the fried chicken. Egg sandwich. Very delicious. For dessert, I had maritozzo 100 yen [US$0.7]. The amount of cream was amazing. The cream is light and delicious. This bakery is delicious, yet so reasonably priced. Ozensan, Bakery Ranking. #1. Thank you for the meal. A walk after dinner. Into town. A mysterious ship. [Kaiyoumaru] A restored ship that sank in 1868. The town is located on high ground. [Esashi Sea Station]. Rabbit doll 1,000 yen [US$6.70]. Cucumber 100 yen [US$0.70]. Map of Esashi Town. Here now. The island from earlier is here. There are many tourist attractions. Stroll around. A squid-catching boat. It has a light bulb. The squid are attracted by electricity. It has a slightly lonely atmosphere. It might be in a tsunami-prone area. Maybe there are no tenants. There are many vacant stores. This is the city center. The town is located on a hill, up a slope. Do you know how to read it? Apparently it’s pronounced “Ubagami Daijingu.” Ubagami Daijingu Shrine. Overall, it’s modest and nice. If it’s too big, it’s difficult to manage. A rental office property. Herring used to be a popular fishing spot in this town. This house was built with money earned from herring. It’s called the “Herring Palace.” That building remains. The Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper. I wonder if houses used to look like this. Many of the buildings here look like they could appear in the live-action “Golden Kamuy” movie. Some have a foreign-style design. Herring prospered here, and there was international exchange. That’s why I think it has an overseas feel. It’s all a hunch. The herring soba here is guaranteed to be delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful. We’re going uphill now. The defensive power of the walls here is incredible. Maybe they’re as high as the walls in “Attack on Titan.” Walls this high are rare. Maybe it’s for tsunami prevention . We’ve climbed to higher ground. It’s more lively than down there. A festival. “The person who eats the most beans wins.” Is there any place more peaceful than this? Everyone’s laughing. I’ve learned what the world needs today. An edamame-eating contest. Festivals are important. We went shopping at the supermarket. We bought some whitebait. The boat is on display. Luckily, my car was in the shade. I was tired, so I took a quick nap. I headed to the island at sunset. A short nap refreshed me. I went to watch the sunset. [Seagull Island Sunset Observation Lighthouse]. Here I am. The observation deck is here. A mysterious sight. The rock in the background. Amazing balance. How did they get it on? This campsite is a great spot. But it’s hard to carry our gear from the parking lot. There are two or three people camping there. I think that’s the lighthouse. What’s this? [Seagull Island Campsite] Free. No reservation required. We arrived in five minutes. Seagulls flying. The kanji for seagull is difficult. I couldn’t read it. I pretended to be a beachgoer and took a bath. Dinner. Cucumber I just bought. Mozuku seaweed salad I bought at the supermarket. Octopus head. Octopus is expensive, but the head is cheap. Whitebait. A Hokkaido specialty. Sweet beans on top of red rice. Cooked. Cucumber, whitebait, and octopus. Octopus from Hokkaido. The octopus head is delicious. A little tasty. The sesame oil makes it tasty. Sweetened azuki beans. Really sweet beans. Like ohagi. People who like sweet things will love it. Delicious. After that, I’ll just relax. I fell asleep before I knew it. It was 3am. Taking a bath today felt great. I’m going to sleep. GLAY.

軽自動車で65日間の北海道車中泊の旅に行ってきました。素晴らしい道の駅もんじゅを後にし、かもめ島へ。途中見つけた「あすなろ新地センター」の安さと美味しさが衝撃でした。近くに住みたい。
