ローカル線で行く兵庫県縦断の旅。天空の城と懐かしの温泉街へ|姫路城|竹田城跡|城崎温泉

Japan’s greatest castle, Himeji Castle Kinosaki Onsen An old-fashioned Japanese night Let’s travel around Hyogo So cool! It sits there so solemnly! Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture The historic city known for Himeji Castle It’s my first time visiting Himeji Castle Himeji Castle was Japan’s first World Heritage Site, right? Himeji Castle and Horyu-ji Temple were registered in 1993 We’re visiting lots of castles this time! But actually just two though. (haha) Heading to Takeda Castle A Journey Through Hyogo on the Bantan Line I’m all ready to go! “Japan’s Most Beautiful Castle” Himeji Castle It’s just too cool… Also known as “White Egret Castle” for its pure white plaster walls This really is number one in Japan… The dignity is unreal… White Egret Castle looks so cool These are all cherry trees, right? 🌸 Spring would be great too Exceptional There are round and square holes Do you know what they’re for? Embrasures That’s an easy question for me! It would be so hard to capture this place There are still lots of traps ahead An impregnable fortress The inside is like a complicated maze The end of this gate bends at a right angle You can’t see what’s ahead So cool… Since you entered Himeji Castle, all you’ve been saying is “So cool” It looks cool from every angle Eight-Direction Front: Beautiful from every angle They’re stacked with natural stones This stone wall is “Nozura style” It’s a very old type of stone wall (Lick) “This is from the Sengoku period…” Can you tell just by licking it? Stone-Wall Sommelier I like how the small stones are fitted in Welcome to the world of stone walls… From here you can enter the main keep It’s really dark inside the castle Seven-story castle tower There are defensive mechanisms inside What do you think this bump is? To rest a gun on! You’re sharp! Warrior’s Hideout What about here? Do warriors hide in here? They hide samurai in here There are lots of little rooms like this Old mansions have them too I have one at my house too! Very high! You can see the station Someone might be watching us from over there “When you gaze into Himeji Castle… ” “Himeji Castle is gazing back at you” Beautiful! The reflection on the water is beautiful The stone walls look even longer This season is really nice Awesome〜! Okay, now to Kokoen Garden It’s right there in front of us Japanese Garden “Kokoen” A strolling garden made up of nine courtyards The autumn leaves are beautiful too I’m glad we came at this time of year Pause and listen to the voice of the season Japanese gardens remind us of how important that is I’m getting hungry Let’s eat Himeji’s local specialties conger eel and oden There’s a place where we can eat both Himeji’s Famous Specialty: Conger Eel Himeji is known for its abundant conger eel catch Shirasu rice bowls are famous too It said “Himeji specialty” on the menu You eat it together with egg… It’s my first time eating it like this The creaminess of the egg goes perfectly with it And the shiso adds a fresh taste I’ve never seen oden shaped like this before I’ve only seen it in manga Himeji Oden: A local specialty, served with ginger soy sauce It tastes like stewed giblets It’s different from Kanto-style oden delicious It tastes similar to stewed giblets With just this one plate… you can try four local specialties! The conger eel is so good We’ve come back to Himeji Station From here we’ll take a train Himeji Station → Takeda Station (1 hour) Tonight we’re staying in Takeda The quiet castle town at the foot of Takeda Castle A temple street with a small stream A walking path steeped in history I like this area The wide river is nice The light is coming out☀️ Is that Takeda Castle? We’re going to climb all the way up there Climbing early to see the sea of clouds sake brewery? This round window is really lovely Hotel EN, a renovated sake brewery Old houses scattered throughout the town You can rent out the entire building I like this town It feels calm This is the bedroom What a wonderful room! Look at the window! Garden view It smells so nice! (Heavy breathing) Hyperventilation It smells like the forest… The sink and toilet are new and clean The amenities are well stocked Refrigerator and lounge beverages are complimentary (including alcohol) Marinated Mackerel Dinner features French cuisine made with local ingredients Sweet potato potage soup This local sake is called “Chikusen” We serve it with Japanese sake Adding this will change the flavor of the soup I added quite a lot… I might get drunk It tastes better with it in It gives a little kick That sharp sake kick is delicious I’m at a loss for words… And it’s surprising It feels so new and different And it’s really tasty After all, it’s supervised by a Michelin-starred chef The aroma is amazing So tender! Cooked rare ♥ The melting fat… I almost choked! Gurgle gurgle… The sweet persimmon sauce brings out the sweetness of the beef even more… So sweet Oh my god… Wait, wait, wait (Paralyzed) Are you okay? Right now, Wow… Oh no, oh no… When harmony goes too far… I’m getting pulled into it too (?) delicious There are figs inside the cake delicious…? (lol) The word “delicious” isn’t enough… Sorry, sorry, sorry! I kind of snorted laughing (lol) There’s no sea of clouds at all… There’s nothing but stars Should we go back? Let’s go anyway we can see the stars… Because there are no clouds There’s no reason to climb anymore But let’s go anyway A battle without a just cause I can’t see anything Scary! But exciting! Maybe the ghost of samurai will appear? 800m 40-minute hike The dark mountain trail is thrilling Careful not to slip on the fallen leaves I at least want to see the sunrise so we have to arrive before it rises scary… Good, we made it in time Why are there so many people here? The people who came by car There’s a parking lot nearby There’s a faint sea of clouds So thin… So thin… I wish we could’ve seen the sea of clouds Clouds vanish Stone walls stand lonely Traces of dreams Did you just imitate a famous haiku? Just a little Toyotomi Hideyoshi captured this castle, right? In 1580, Takeda Castle fell to Toyotomi Hideyoshi Watching the sunrise after taking a castle… must feel amazing Let’s go back down… Breakfast time! The autumn leaves are so pretty… I’m glad we came in autumn Autumn leaves make everything more vivid Who needs a sea of clouds anyway Breakfast after climbing a mountain… is the best It’s a reward! A reward for our hard work We climbed quite a lot So good! The rice is fluffy! Takeda Station → Kinosaki Onsen (50 min) We’ve arrived at Kinosaki Onsen The historic hot spring town, Kinosaki Onsen Cafes and souvenir shops line the street A hot spring town perfect for leisurely strolls Crab Sake & Crab Soup The aroma of crab is so good (Deep breath) For this moment… we’re alive! Crab soup Hot! Hot! Is the crab soup delicious? Crab miso! Want to try mixing it with the sake? There are so many shops There’s lots of food to try minced meat cutlets? Here you go, senpai! I knew you’d do that… This is… The main street of Kinosaki Onsen Doesn’t it look a bit like that place? Kurashiki! Kinosaki coffee milk We have to drink this Kinosaki Coffee Milk After a bath, it has to be coffee milk Even though we haven’t bathed yet What? I thought it was just ordinary coffee milk… I underestimated it and was surprised It’s rich and sweet Ohohohoho You drink it well! This is the right way to drink it! Refreshing,Nice There are so many shops Kinosaki Onsen is very good There are so many shops, it’s fun There are so many places I’m curious about… But we’re just walking past them all… Everyone walks around in yukata Can you drink this!? “Drinking Water” Senpai, open your mouth! Salty Ichino-yu Bath There are many public hot spring baths In yukata, you go from bath to bath Hot spring hopping is the way to enjoy Kinosaki Onsen It’s big The hot spring town is huge Goshono-yu Bath The most popular public bath I heard it has an open-air bath The ropeway is so high! The autumn leaves up there look beautiful Looks like there are two stations Shall we go all the way to the top? Let’s conquer the summit! Hot spring eggs? Kinosaki Hot Spring Source Around 80°C Don’t touch it You can make hot spring eggs here Let’s make hot spring eggs! Nine minutes Rescued Looks good This is the hard part What’s this? Watch What are you doing…? I don’t know how to use the egg cutter… Is this how you do it? Definitely not It’s starting to crack a little OK!OK! I did it nicely! looks delicious It’s super tasty Maybe the hot spring minerals soak in? It’s better than a normal boiled egg The flavor is richer The taste of hot springs? That was fun It’s more fun than just buying a boiled egg 1300 years of history Kinosaki Onsen has been loved since ancient times Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway Take in the panoramic view of Kinosaki town from the mountaintop These seats are nice! This view is great You can see all the way to the Sea of Japan We also bought KAWARAKE(clay plate) After we go to the inner shrine and pray… we throw them toward the target Three tries I’m not very confident The kawarake throwing spot is over here We have to visit the inner shrine first… Do we throw from here? The difficulty is pretty high We throw toward that hole Wild pitch It’s over! Has anyone ever succeeded? Let me know in the comments! We can already check in to the hotel It’s about time I’m getting excited for the ryokan Hot Spring Inn “Tokiwa Bekkan” Experience authentic Japanese hospitality You can drink alcohol in the lounge Complimentary alcoholic beverages and ice pops A classic Japanese hot spring inn Mountains of autumn colors and maple trees So beautiful Plus, there’s a shuttle to the hot spring town They even take you after dinner Let’s use that to visit the public baths November through March is crab season You can enjoy crab caught in the Sea of Japan I’m so happy I didn’t expect to get this much Here we have boiled crab You can eat it just like this This is the best part sweet! The meat is packed tight “Crab is best when the meat is plump” “It tastes better if you don’t overcook it” Looks delicious! It falls apart! The crab just falls apart Crab hot pot is so good Crab Rice Porridge This is… This crab porridge is amazing You could never get this crab broth at home So much crab broth! This is real luxury… 1 minute by car to the hot spring town Shuttle Service The nighttime atmosphere is nice The sound of GETA(wooden clogs)is nice too Yeah, it is There’s an old game arcade Ouch! I got shot… I got Senpai(I don’t really need) Let’s take this one Since there are so many public baths everyone comes out wearing yukata That’s what’s so nice about it Japan’s most yukata-friendly hot spring town everyone creates Kinosaki Onsen together There are so many lovely places to stay Staying around here would be great too Wearing a yukata, clacking geta… Into the Night in Japan

  1. What a wonderful video you two have made. I visited Himeji Castle in 1985. It is a very impressive castle indeed. At the Onsen the sound of the Geta and people wearing Yukata, we were transported back in time. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.

  2. I would like to share something gently and respectfully: Islam, the religion of peace, teaches us to believe in one God, the Merciful, the Generous, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and our Creator, who brought everything into existence and created all of humanity to worship Him alone, without any partners. He sent messengers, peace be upon them, to guide humanity to the right path. Read the Quran, for it is the word of God.

  16. I've been to Kinosaki Onsen once in the 2010s. Although only stayed one night, I managed to go to 6 of the 7 onsens (missing Sato no Yu because it was its closed for that weekday). My favrourite is Gosho no Yu, which I went twice, once at night and once in the morning before I leave.

If you stay at the ryokan/hotel there, you'll get a onsen pass that allows you full access to all the onsen. I basically take dip in each hot spring for around 30 minutes and then move on to the next one, all way into the night until 11PM. 😀

Anyways highly recommend the onsen town because it's so unique in this aspect.

  17. 夜、浴衣に下駄の音
    素敵ですね!
    外国の観光客がたくさん来そうですが、まだ知られていないのでしょうね。
    ぜひ行ってみたいです😊
