We are traveling on Prefectural Route 2, Toyako Noboribetsu Line. This video was taken in early November 2025, just after the peak of autumn leaves had finished. We arrived at Sobetsu Falls . Sobetsu Falls is located just before the junction of Route 2 and Route 132 (Toya Park Toya Line). Sobetsu Falls is the only outlet of Lake Toya, with a drop of approximately 18m. The Sobetsu Falls Promenade is located at the bottom, but as of November 2025, it will be closed to traffic. Next, take Route 132 and head to Sobetsu Park. Sobetsu Park is one of the best viewpoints around Lake Toya. You can see Lake Toya, Mount Usu, and Showa Shinzan in the distance, as well as Mount Yotei and the Niseko mountain range. Turn right here to reach Sobetsu Park. The road is narrow, only wide enough for one car, and the slope is steep, so you need to drive carefully. This time, I visited in the fall, but by mid-May, you can enjoy the approximately 300 Bungo plum trees. At the top of this hill, there is parking space for about 10 cars in Sobetsu Park, which seems to get very crowded during the plum season. Turn right here and continue uphill. Once you arrive at the parking lot , you will see Lake Toya directly in front of you. Mount Showa Shinzan can also be seen on the left. Floating in the center of Lake Toya is Nakanoshima Island. To the right of Nakanoshima Island, you can see Mt. Yotei. Go down the slope of Sobetsu Park and take a look at the shores of Lake Toya.
