Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture I went for a walk in search of thatched gabled houses along Ome Kaido Their shape is very unique and impactful The raised roof on the front is distinctive It is called Yagura-kemudashi or Akaritori It is also likened to the kamishimo (a samurai’s costume) with its protruding shoulders Most of the roof has now been replaced with tin Only those of a certain rank were allowed to install them The shape of this building makes it susceptible to wind resistance However, fortunately, this area is calm so it’s not a problem Why did it become like this? Perhaps it is a mixture of functionality from the sericulture industry and vanity In any case, I feel a sense of freshness in the unique shape There are quite a few old houses of this shape in this area I would like to search thoroughly and burn it into my memory I was surprised to see rice terraces in the fruit kingdom Thank you for watching

山梨県甲州市(こうしゅうし)。
青梅街道に広がる茅葺切妻主屋を求めて散策しました。
その形はとても個性的でインパクトがあります。
正面の突き上げ屋根が特徴的です。
矢倉煙出し(やぐらけむだし)、明り取り(あかりとり)と呼ばれます。
武士の衣装で両肩が出っ張った裃(かみしも)にも例えられます。
現在はほとんどの屋根部分がトタンに変わっています。
ある程度の身分の者だけが設置を許されました。
この建物は風の抵抗を受けやすい形をしています。
しかし、幸いにもこの地域は穏やかなので問題ありません。
なぜ、このような形になったのでしょうか。
養蚕業の機能性と見栄が入り混じっているのでしょうか。
いずれにしてもオンリーワンな形に新鮮さを感じます。
この地域にはこの形の古民家がかなり存在します。
くまなく探して目に焼き付けたいと思います。
